I know that temp and/or floating bridges can be thrown up pretty quickly - but can they handle the weight (probably , considering how much a loaded military deuce-and-a-half weighs) or the traffic load/continual use that a regular bridge can?

I remember something I read back in 2001 after 9/11 saying what the impact of taking out 4 or 5 interstate bridges would be - the detours were long and sometimes weren't rated for the weight of loaded semis.

I also wonder if the cross-country rail lines could have a similiar issue. I don't know how they're laid out.
