180 pounds of nuclear material missing in Canada
WABC | November 7, 2003 | John Loftus

Posted on 11/07/2003 7:47:41 PM PST by Allan

John Loftus now on Batchelor Alexander WABC reports: A student of Nuclear Engineering at McMaster University Hamilton, Ontario. has disappeared along with 180 pounds of nuclear waste stolen from the university's nuclear reactor. This happened several months ago but an alert has been ordered tonight in the USA and Canada. His name is ? Adnan al-ShoukriJumai, 27 years old, a Saudi national. A search is underway. The fear is that they may hijack a cargo plane in Canada. I hope to provide further details later on this thread.

Perhaps a bomb will go off in Mecca and the 'Muslim world' will blame Isreal.

John H K! I, for one, am taken back by your viciously snide post to Beck_isright. It seems to come out of left field, and is out of character and unbecoming in light of your usual interesting and informative posts. We all have bad days, I guess this is one of yours?

The informant said that at least three other al-Qaida terrorists in addition to El Shukrijumah were seen in Hamilton in 2002. They include Anas al-Liby, one of the FBI's most wanted terrorists, Jaber A. Elbaneh and Amer El-Maati. Al-Liby has been linked by U.S. authorities to the 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Tanzania and Kenya. El Shukrijumah and El-Maati are being sought for questioning by the FBI in connection with terrorist threats against the United States, according to the bureau's counterterrorism website. Elbaneh is wanted by the FBI as part of a federal criminal complaint made public in May on charges of providing support to al-Qaida as part of a terrorist cell near Buffalo, N.Y.

Waiting for a ‘Watermelon’
FBI Says Coded Messages
Led to Buffalo Terror Sweep

B U F F A L O, N.Y., Sept. 17

— The FBI monitored the alleged members of a terror cell in suburban Buffalo, N.Y., since before Sept. 11, 2001, but it was a flurry of recent coded messages — including one that referred to the delivery of a "watermelon" — that spurred authorities to swoop in.

Law enforcement officials say they are not sure exactly what "watermelon" referred to, but they think it may have been a code word for some kind of terrorist activity. The arrests of the six men on Friday, Saturday and Sunday came as agents investigated reports of a possible "dirty bomb" being moved across the border from Canada, sources said.

Yes this is the John Loftus.
I didn't see him on TV
(I think occasionally he is on FOX and/or MSNBC)
he is on WABC radio nightly
usually at 10:30 p.m.
He has connections in the intelligence community
and though his batting average is not 100%
he has broken quite a few stories.

What is it in this article that convinces you that this story is "completely bogus"? I don't see anything that is conclusive either way. Why are you so sure?

I don't worry about Pakistan..
Them and the Indians sort of cancel each other out.
I'm thinking Saudi Arabia (the Russians need $$$) and then one of the happy little uptight Wabbists talks someone into doing something stupid...
and then...
and then...
And then the Ka'aba goes up in smoke.. Then the Islamofacists go nuts, we smoke them, and go back to being nice peaceful Christians (yea right, but I can hope)

Canadian university officials deny the story. The Washington Times' sources at the FBI say it's true. Who do you believe?

Lots of informative posts in thread, so far folks. But, it looks like the Gov't has been following this story for longer than any of us have known about it. Let's hope they are on top of it. The cell in Buffalo looked to be the center of this, as well as other names we have heard in the past. Basically, old news.

re post no. 181: Mecca has been pretty busy lately.

U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE Office of the Spokesman - PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT: "MIDDLE EAST AND NORTH AFRICA" (PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT SNIPPET: "Credible information has indicated terrorist groups may be planning attacks against U.S. interests in the Middle East. Terrorist actions may include suicide operations, bombings, hijackings or kidnappings. These may also involve commercial aircraft and maritime interests. While conventional weapons such as explosive devices are a more immediate threat in many areas, use of non-conventional weapons, including chemical or biological agents must be considered a possible threat. Terrorists do not distinguish between official and civilian targets. Increased security at official U.S. facilities has led terrorists and their sympathizers to seek softer targets such as public transportation, residential areas, clubs, restaurants, places of worship, hotels, schools, outdoor recreation events, resorts and beaches.") 1) Nuclear waste can't cause a nuclear explosion.

That was my question. What could they do with it?
Thanks for answering in advance.

I cant help but think that the terrorists would say something like that to throw us off, then drive a truck bomb to a heavily crowded area or something different.
They know we are hearing their chatter and they know they would benefit by a diversion.
