Well, you're "witnesstothefall." Why don't you tell us what happened? :-)

One thing for sure, the truth of this case will never come out, or be believed in any event.

Add this case to Vince Foster, and all the spooks who have died on canoe trips on the Potomac.

I've read things like this before:

Q. Why do Japanese people remove their shoes when they commit suicide?
A. The simple answer is that they are copying what they see in "trendy dramas" where suicides are common and shoes are often removed. The origin of the practice probably lies in the same place as the idea of taking off your shoes when you enter a house. Shoes are considered dirty and when one steps up to enter a house one leaves one?s dirty shoes behind. Taking off one?s shoes before one jumps symbolizes leaving the filth and dirt of the material world behind. Removing one?s shoes also serves the practical purpose of showing that your death was not an accident.

Seventeen years from now, a pile of classified documents will show up in hillary's closet, bearing the fingerprints of John Kokal and Jay Rockefeller.

But for now, it's time to move on.

A murderer or group attempting to stage a suicide would do things like take off the shoes.

I considered that too. but they'd have to be stupid murderers. "Let's see, let's do something to make it look like he jumped, err, let's take off his shoes, yeah, that'll do it!"

Warm day. Saw the reflecting pool. Took shoes off to go wading and forgot to take the elevator.

Huh? Sounds intriguing.

Or the shoes came off while Bruno, Boom-Boom and Knuckles were dragging him to the window (kicking for his life) with a choke hold around his neck keeping him quiet.

Thanks for that info. As a radio personality here in the Twin Cities says, " I learn more here by accident than I ever could by design!"

if such a struggle were to occur, you would see the bruises on the arms with signs of trauma... hmm other than the obvious trauma from impact with the ground.

The Washington Post Metro Section reported this today. It says he jumped:

A 58-year-old State Department employee was found dead yesterday after apparently jumping from the top of the department's headquarters building in Foggy Bottom, D.C. police said.

In answer to a question posed by another poster, it has turned fairly chilly in the DC area in the last few days. You would not want to be outside without a jacket (not to mention shoes), particularly in the early morning hours.

It's not unusual for someone working at their desk to have their shoes off.

...and all the spooks who have died on canoe trips on the Potomac.

Huh? Sounds intriguing.

And don't forget the spook who borrowed a sailboat, took it out on the Chesapeake Bay, wrapped chains around himself, sat on the transom, and shot himself several times in a "suicide" just to make the CIA look bad when his body was found much later. (Honest, that's what they say about his mysterious death. Archy will know the names.)

Of course it is. That's what makes postulating Vince Foster cases so much fun.

The Las Vegas CSI team would solve this case in one hour on TV.

Unfortunately, in DC these cases are given to the Park Police, or whichever dept is the most malleable.
