Patton was overrated. He achieved his successes against weaker and numerically inferior enemy forces. Forces with absolutely no air power to boot. Patton cannot be compared to the real genius commanders such as Eric von Manstein and Rommel. Nothing Patton ever did compares to Manstein retaking Kharkov in March 1943. That was the geatest military maneuver of WW2. Patton always had an abundance of riches at his disposal. What happened when he didn't? Well, he sat stalled on the French/German border going nowhere and achieving virtually nothing for almost 6 months. LOL.

Which Rommel was the genius, the one that got his ass kicked by Montgomery all the way across Africa or the one who didn't see the Normandy invasion coming and skipped town just as the party started?
