What do you suggest?

That perhaps North Carolinians, conservative North Carolinians, quit touting Elizabeth Dole as some savior of jobs and good for this state, and President Bush as actually doing anything about our situation in this state. Personally, I was a bit offended the man showed up on Tobacco Road to talk about jobs when the Republican party is prepared to hand tobacco over to the FDA, causing an even greater job loss than we've seen to dat.

2700 have already been lost at RJR in Winston-Salem alone. When will it be enough? When will conservatives in this state quit settling for second best from a party that clearly could care less about our situation, as evidenced by the inaction on textiles, tobacco, and furniture? I'm not saying Democrats would do better, heck they would do worse, but something, anything would be better than what we've got now. I vote third party from here on out on most elections. If that makes me a 'traitor' to the Republican party, so be it. At least I'll still be a conservative

"A better life for all Americans able to afford more goods and enjoy a richer life stlye. No longer will they have to pay outrageous prices for the overpriced "union label". Even better news is that those Americans will no longer have to subsidize the democrat dominated textile unions."

Oh, yes, most of us,here, are much happier subsidizing the chicom military.

Yes, and before everyone pops the champagne for Bush's "certain" re-election because of these latest job growth numbers, we might want to know the nature of these jobs.

Are we talkin' jobs for drivers for Domino's Pizza, third shift at the convenience store, bagging groceries or delivering newspapers?.... OR...

are we talking career jobs that make the investment into a college education pay off?

After all, China has seen explosive job growth for millions of jobs at an average wage of 61 cents an hour. I wouldn't bet Bush's re-election on dramatic growth in low-paying jobs.

Low paying jobs won't give the American consumer income to buy much more than a subsistence living. Because of this "globalism," real income of Americans can't rise against the glut of cheap labor throughout the world. It virtually guarantees a downward spiral in standard of living for Americans for the future.

For millions of underemployed Americans who used to earn a lot more, I think the Bush re-election vehicle might look less like a bandwagon and more like a hand-cart heading for Underemployment Hell.

That complaint might have some substance except for the fact that your real complaint is against any low cost provider not just Red China.

And your claims might have some substance, except for the fact that alot of what's going didn't have a union label. I live in a 'right to work' state.

What solution to the problem do you suggest? It is easy "You're wrong", but it is much harder to say what would be right.

BTW. When President Bush mentioned Senator Dole, the reception was luke warm at best. He just doesn't seem to understand that we feel used by her.

How many hundreds of thousands of jobs have been lost in Bush's 3 years in office?

Bush has been in office for 2 years.... In case you have forgotten.

Well I think I suggested it. Unfortunately it's not one that many here want to accept. Refuse the candidate 'recommended' by the White House. You and I both know there was at least one qualified conservative candidate beside Elizabeth Dole. Yet what did most do when she was 'chosen' months before the primary?

The average citizen of this state can't do much on their own but they can do a little. Anyone that asked at work, I was more than happy to discuss the issues with them. Do you realize how many people don't know what Dole did to us just as DOT Secretary? Truthfully, I probably convinced one or two people out of more than a few. But it's doing something. Anything

Well at least that's good to hear. Unfortunately for Burr, who is actually a conservative, I think Rove and his team used up their last favor with Dole. If Burr wants to get elected in this state, sad to say, but he better run away from the RNC stances and go it on his own

Cass Ballenger's district, the 10th, has lost 40,000 jobs since Bush was elected
Meanwhile, a newly released statewide poll found that three out of four North Carolinians think the state's economy was doing only fair to poor, when just three years ago, two-thirds in the same poll rated the economy as excellent to good. Among those surveyed last month, 38 percent of residents placed the most blame for the padlocked plant gates on foreign trade policy, 23 percent blamed the federal government and 20 percent blamed cheaper labor overseas.
Here

And that's an upturn is it? Granted the News and Observer isn't the kindest to President Bush, but I don't think they're going to find position for 50,000+ biotech workers....
