New Orleans - Gertrude M. Jones didn't want flowers or cards when she died. She wanted to get rid of President George W. Bush.

The 81-year-old woman's obituary asked that memorial donations be given "to any organization that seeks the removal of President Bush from office." And people around the country are following her wishes.

In an online memorial book to Jones, dozens of people posted messages of support. Many wrote that they would contribute to the Democratic National Committee or one of the presidential contenders.

The comments in the memorial book are pretty amusing. I sure hope I am not as bitter as Mother Jones on my death bed.

Gertrude can rest in peace, knowing that, as a registered Democrat, just because she is dead, doesn't mean she won't be voting in the next election. ;)

This story creates a vivid image.

A hand -- reaching out from a grave -- holding cash -- with insturctions -- every fourth year -- just before Presidential elections.

We can call it ... Grandma's Dead Hand Day.

Leno and/or Letterman need o allude to this in their next monologue.

So where in the Constitution does it say that a voter must be a living person?

No, they would just say we are not "compassionate conservatives." I'm not, so I don't care what they think. :)

I am sure that the only thing on this dying woman's mind was who the president of the United States is. If she were a true bedwetting liberal she would be donating that money to gay rights or free satellite service for the homeless. How naive does the DNC think it's constituency is?

The guy maintaining the site will just erase any negative comments. Maybe we could start an online "memorial" to Gerty Jones right here, as a seperate thread?
