I thought it was cute.

(cheers to the one and only heavy_d meanwhile ... =)

I guess you're right. We can only hope it's a guy.

It's cool the way you've got them laughing ... best hook of all.

The guy really was insistent. He came up and said, "You are on private property. You have to leave."

We were on the sidewalk, and I pointed that out to him. He told me that it was private property, property of DOI, and we had to move along. I repeated that it was a public sidewalk, and that's when he turned to BillF and pageonetoo and told them that the chain link construction fence that they were touching was property of DOI and that our bags were touching the fence, too.

So Bill and pageonetoo stopped touching the fence(sounds like a dispute with a 6 year-old, "Mom! He's touching my crayons!"). I moved the bags and noticed that the arm patch on his uniform didn't say DC Police, or US Secret Service, or US Park Police, or any other government LEO entity, and I made note of that with him. He told me he worked for DOI and we couldn't be there. I responded that the police had just been talking to us and they had no problem with us at all. Then he said, "I'm going to call Secret Service." We said, "OK, please do." We wanted it straightened out as well. He went off to the side and called somebody on his radio and left.

Nobody ever came back to remove us. So I guess the guy learned that sidewalks really are public property and that he couldn't hustle us off.

Probably a disgruntled Gore voter.

Do you need a permit for this sort of thing in DC?

If you are more than 24 persons in number. Most times the DC Chapter does something we give the appropriate authorities a heads-up that we will be there, even when we are only a few people, and especially if we will be in an area not used to seeing "protests."

We try to be courteous protesters. No teargas necessary. No heavy lifting. No tie-wrap handcuffs needed. In this case though, the guy was misinformed as to the ownership of the public thoroughfare. It worked out fine, and now he knows for future reference.

We got the finger and some other obscene gestures from the "tolerant" advocates of diversity. Seems that that hate a diversity of opinion. Sure, I don't expect them to like our signs, but they really, really over reacted to our presence.

Basic announcement today was, "Welcome to the Washington DC Telethon for Al's kids......where they are raising money today for the morally blind. Please have your ID ready at the door. Proper ID for today is Democrat party registration card, Baath Party membership card or CASH. For your safety, please be advised that immediately upon entering, you will go down two steps.....socially and morally. Today's event has no cover but there is a two drink minimum. Everybody has to go to the bar and buy Ted Kennedy two drinks."

I forgot to use a few pieces I worked on coming down. One was, "Only in America counld the priveldged son of a powerful Senator grow up to be a slumlord in Carthage Tennessee."

Some clueless blond who kept going on about AWOL had her paradigm shifted when I said, "Look at your internet sites that claim AWOL and look at the top of the discharge paper, it says 'honorable' and check the days of service and there are none missing. So there's no proof he's AWOL." She had a vapor lock and it took a while but she sputtered, "Cover up". I replied, "Must have been a damn good one, because the record is clean and the dicharge honorable." She turned on her Gucci heel and stalked off.

Did a lot of education as to the Mark Herron memo and how Gore's lawyers went to all 67 Florida counties with that cheat sheet and disenfranchised the military we now ask to protect us. How Al Gore would stare at dimples for hours as it it was his navel and try to figure out that voter's 'intent' yet they challenged absentee ballots that arrived on time and only were missing a post mark. That intent was clear, but Gore didn't fight for those who fight for us. The story of the first naval officer to leave the USS Tarawa to go help the USS Cole and how his vote was stolen by Gore generated NO middle fingers. You could tell the waiting people we uneasy hearing about that. I challenged them to challenge Gore for an answer.

Three young guys, freshman/sophmore age I'd guess came over and asked dome questions about my "costume" and sign. I explained the Herron memo and the rest. Told them to not take my word, but to look on the web for the phrase "To: FDP Lawyer" along with "Mark Herron" and read the memo, and the aritcles on what happened. Then make up their own minds.

SOme puke in a suit really had his liberal panties in a bunch that we called Democrats racists, so I schooled him and everyone else within earshot. I said, "What's bigot? A bigot is a person that believes in a stereotype and applies that stereotype to every member of that group. The liberals bellieve is a stereotype that every minority should be a liberal. They would deny a minority their right to be a conservative if they so choose. In fact, they'll attack and take away a minority's rights if that minority is a conservative. So when they treat all minorites according to their stereotype, they are bigot. That it falls across racial lines also makes them racists."

Repeating that a second time for all to hear, they guy hangs his head, won't face us, goes silent and spend most of his time studying his shoes. He couldn't rebut the arguement.
