WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former Vice President Al Gore accused the Bush administration Sunday of using the war on terrorism "to consolidate its power and escape any accountability for its use."

Gore said that though the threat of terrorism and the potential use of weapons of mass destruction required speedy action by the executive branch, "President Bush has stretched this new practical imperative way beyond what is healthy for our democracy."

Gore offering nothing concrete in terms of dealing with the legacy of 9/11....just whining.

Typical Demonrat.....no solutions, just cynical bitching.

This is a news article? It's pure propaganda preceded by "Gore said".

BTW, I wonder just how "independent" the 9-11 commission is, in light of the Intelligence Committee revelation? I wouldn't give them a thing.

I just saw part of this on C-SPAN. When I came in, he was talking about how 9-11 could have been prevented if law enforcement had simply noticed that two of the passengers on Flight 77 were on some watch list. Then they could have tracked down many of the other hijackers through shared addresses, phone numbers, and frequent flyer numbers. Later he went on to complain about the PATRIOT Act, in part because it permitted the goverment to collect and analyze personal data about people. Sheesh.

Meanwhile, the MOVEON.org audience applauded every contradiction and non-sequitur, as long as it reflected badly on the Bush administration. Especially when he criticized Bush of partisan behavior.

Let's see...Bill Clinton and Al Gore take illegal donations from the Chinese during the Gore-Bush Presidential campaign while Bill and Al look the other way allowing the Chinese to walk right through the intelligence house of cards while stealing laptop computers containing missile defense intelligence.....

The image of AlGore speaking to MoveOn.org is tragically funny, in a way. A political has-been talking to an organization dedicated to "moving on" past Monica Lewinsky.

It's a pleasure to see just how deeply these folks are are mired in 1999. If this doesn't sum up the state of the Democratic Party, I don't know what does...
