Cornell Student Assaulted (Black on White "hate crime" at Ithaca Ludacris concert?)

ITHACA--A white female student assaulted Sunday night leaving the Nappy Roots and Ludacris concert at Cornell's Barton Hall told The Sun that she was the victim of a hate-crime, which left her with a ruptured ear drum and thirteen stiches on her face.

The Cornell Police morning report noted that the police received a "complaint from a student that was physically assaulted by an unkown individual." The report indicated that the assault occurred at 11:47 p.m. and that the investigation is continuing.

The incident, as described by the victim, began when the student had a minor altercation with another girl who was at the concert while the performace was still going on.

"She said 'Get your white hair out of my face,'" the student said.

After the student put her hair up to get it out of the way, the alleged assailant proceeded to hit her, at which point the student and her friends moved to the back of the concert space.

When the concert was over, the student separated from her friends to get into her car and said she found herself surrounded by a group made up of five black females and one black male, who have yet to be identified.

"They said they were gonna f**k up my pretty white face," she said.

Allegedly, the incident turned physically violent when one of the girls slapped the student hard enough to rupture her eardrum, a blow which threw her off balance. The other five assailants proceeded to kick and punch her as she fell down.

"They pulled a ton of my hair out," the student said.

The six assailants stopped hitting the victim only when one of her male friends came out of the concert and stepped in.

"If it wasn't for [him], I don't know how long it would have gone on," she said.

The victim said doctors estimate it will take her eardrum a year and a half to heal.

"This was a hate crime, and it shouldn't happen to another person. The more people know the better," said the victim's mother.

The University is currently investigating the situation.

"We take any sort of hate crime very very seriously," said Linda Grace-Kobas, interim vice president for communications and media relations. "We will thoroughly investigate all aspects of the incident."

"I would encourage her to file a bias-related incident report," said Robert Harris, vice provost for diversity and faculty development. "We have a process and with a report we can begin putting that process to work."

Once an incident report is filed, a University employee is assigned the case to assist victims in pursuing their situation, according to Harris.

"It's really hard to live with this. I want people to know because I need to press charges. If anyone has any information, tell the police because [they] don't know anything right now," the student said.

Now for the real question:

Will Cornell respond to this incident with immediate calls for mandatory sensitivity training for all African-American students and faculty (they way they have for suspected white on minority hate crimes)?

Will the "progressive" community stage massive rallies and demand meetings with the District Attorney (the way they did for suspected white on black hate crimes)?

Or will this incident disappear to never be heard about again?

The fact that this didn't make the Ithaca Journal (unlike the other incidents mentioned) makes one wonder.

If the incident in NYC in which an eighty year old is charged with illegal possession of a gun for defending himself, this young lady will be charged fo a hate crime for claiming the attack was racial.

The other thing to consider is this: the University is asking the victim to file a report with, as near as I can tell, the Dean's office, not the local police.

There's at least one problem with that: not everyone at that concert was a Cornell student. If the perpetrators of this alleged assault weren't students, they are beyond the reach of the University judiciary.

Which means this gets swept even further under the Ithaca rug.

While the comments here are creative and fun to read, we all know the purpose of hate crime legislation. Procecuting a normal incident like this ain't it.

The act of self expression alleged to have happened here was (at most) a black man acting out to release the rage of his oppression which was stirred by the melodic tunes of his homeland. I believe the ACLU will call it freedom of speech.

Sorry, sweetie. By definition, it is NOT a hate crime. Black on white violence is just regular, ole normal violence. The only type of violence that qualifies as a true hate crime is when a straight, white male assaults any member of any protected class.

Protected classes include (but are not limited to) the following:
Any Hyphenated American (African-American, Latin-American, Asian-American, Indian-American, etc.)
Women (of all races and genders)
Gays (of all races - and genders)
People of any religion (except those that are predominately comprised of straight, white males)

Here's another good one.....my nephew and girlfriend were assaulted by a group of Mexicans as they were leaving a Denver night club....she suffered a broken nose and other facial injuries.....he was fighting with three at once, was able to get into his truck & pulled out his gun and shot one of the attackers (he's a cop that was off duty). He truly believes they may have been beaten within an inch of their life or even killed had he not popped one of these animals. Anyway, despite the beating they took from these idiots the most the prosecutor would charge the Mexicans with was "ethnic intimidation" which made my family furious....so far he's not budged on the charges, but it's another example of anti-white politically correct bias when it comes down to deciding if a hate crime has been committed.

Cornell asked for this. These elitists, thinking themselves soooooooo progressive, so "sensitive," so much more virtuous than the rest of us in the world outside of academe -- it's the Cornell faculty and administration that created the policies : the "Ujamaa" segregated housing, the special programs for "third world and minority" students, the kid-glove treatment for "minorities" who trashed and burned conservative publications -- that led to racial hatred being encouraged on campus.

Thirty years ago I too was attacked by a group of black women -- over my "white" hair -- though the attack didn't get physical beyond my being spat upon. And they didn't pull my hair out, they merely threatened to burn it off with their cigarette lighters. That happened on a "racially sensitive" college campus, too, though the women weren't students.

Speaking of Cornell's record for taking crime seriously, I have personal knowledge of a Cornell student who alleges she was rendered unconscious and sexually assaulted by a number of people at a frat party at Cornell.

She reported the assault to the Cornell Police and was advised that it should be handled . . . by Cornell's Judicial Administrator.

In other words, instead of seeking prosecution of rapists (assuming the allegations are well-founded), Cornell tries to sweep it under the rug through diversion to an internal slap-on-the-wrist process.

One thing that we all know, absolutely and without doubt, is that if the races of the people involved in this story were reversed, this would be a national news story, Jesse Jackson would already be on his way to the site of the incident, and there would be program after program on TV investigating 'institutional racism' and decrying the clear "Hate Crime" which had taken place.

Actually, you are closer to the truth than you care to be.

On the official FBI Hate Crime form (http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/hatecrime.pdf, pg 23), you will note "Hispanic" can be a victim.

However, at the bottom of the page, under the "Suspected Offenders Race," Hispanic is NOT listed as a catergory.

Ergo, plain to all, Hispanics can be a victim but not the criminal.

Hispanics are liosted as "White" if they commit a hate crime.
