I enjoy a lot of the information that people provide here but there are some who express opinions that are arrogant, devisive and the mirror image of what some people post at DU. Their argument is that since they are on the conservative side then it makes them right which is really no position at all. People here hate Clinton in the way that DU hates Bush but while it is PC on FR to bash Clinton, Bush is seen as above reproach by too many. (give me a better republican than Bush to vote for and I will gladly do so!) The Rush defenders did their best to drown out those who called him a hypocrite and I have seen the zealots apply ad hominem attacks on those who question the status quo. Sorry, but if we want to appeal to more than the true believers then the level of discourse needs to keep improving.

However, that post on DU was not pulled until it had been posted both here on FR and on Andrew Sullivan's website.

It was pulled from DU only after it became apparent that it was being publicized and that it constituted a potential embarrassment.

Gore would have never stood up to the terrorists - he would appease them, get the U.N. to take over the problem and have America serve as merely footsoldiers for the U.N.

Gore is an idiot and I am so very, very thankful that Bush became president.

I was really turned off Gore when I realized that he put himself at the center of everything, when he did not follow the rules in the debates but abused them, when he continually reinvented himself.

Gore is one who would make a decision and it would not matter what any one else said about it - it would be his way. I would not want him with control over the "box". Howard Dean is the same. A ruthless, pompous, know-it-all who cares nothing for people.

Bush is a leader, he brought in a first class team, he does what he says he will do. One thing I was really shocked about was the way he handled the election upsets. He turned it over to Baker and went to his ranch and started work on his new cabinet. He did not stew around wringing his hands - he felt sure he would be president and set about getting all in order.

This is how he works today. He does not stew around with fighting the democrats - he just keeps on working for the American people. That is why we have to take up for him - he is busy working for us and will not fight them but he sure as heck will fight the terrorists and for America.

The main thing about Bush is he is well grounded with moral values, he turns away from the society elite preferring the simple ranch, he can be trusted with this country and he is not intimidated by the world community. He is like us and of us - not of the liberal elite who hate America first, who will not defend America and who are too willing to ignore assaults on our freedoms.

No democrat ever will get my vote.

I don't see it so much anymore, but in the past, when someone would post an article by Sullivan, there would be a dedicated crowd of FReepers who would post a bunch of anti-gay slurs. Whenever Sullivan says something they don't like, they break out the insults--which they don't do for other conservative pundits who say things that annoy them.

That is like saying "Yeah - it is an ok place but it has some real wackos". Makes you want to rush to check it out.

Funny enough, I first checked out FR because I kept seeing all these over-the-top frothy quotes from freepers on various sites, mostly Salon (back when it had David Horowitz and some decent writing)

I came here to see the nuts for myself, and found mostly reasonable people that I agree with. There are more than a few regulars that I consider rabid,but they are vastly outnumbered by the ones with common sense.

I just read this thread from DU:

DU troll thread discussing using the "BARF ALERT" to post troll material on Free Republic.

Where some DU trolls are ACTUALLY BRAGGING about their tactic of using "BARF ALERT" articles to introduce Liberal and Tin Foil Hat material that would obviously be pulled or ZOTed otherwise to this forum. One of the comments on this DU thread even mentions the "FReeper" SCREEN NAME of one of the DU trolls who does this. (I WON'T because I am already on somewhat of a probation here for personal attacks.) My advice to my fellow FReepers is to AVOID any "BARF ALERT" material that is OBVIOUSLY anti Republican, anti Bush, anti gun, anti War on Terror or otherwise not normally what would be allowed on this board.

And you can find similarly wacko views on the right on such websites as Free Republic, which is sometimes just as outrageous in the other direction as Democratic Underground.

Vague charges...and no specific examples...see it all the time in the media...."conservatives do things to hurt black people"---no examples listed. Sad to see it here, though. I guess some people don't want to be hated.
