I wish I could be there too. I guess we do what we can from a distance.
My family spent yearly vacations in nearby Bradenton, FL and we even lived there for a few years on 2 seperate occasions. I haven't been back since '87 tho and with the state of affairs in FL I'm not sure I would want to go back.

Thanks for clarifying that Dr. Wolfson is not an MD, but a PhD. Still, his duties will include determining whether she can be rehabilitated, and I thought that might include looking at the diagnosis of PVS. Do you know if he can call in other MDs to offer fresh medical opinions? I didn't see that mentioned in this article, though it does say he won't be representing her interests, which might mean he won't have as much leeway as Pearse did, when he (Pearse) recommended that the feeding tube not be removed.

Terri's Birthday is December 3rd. So many people have contacted us, recently, to ask how they may participate. We are so delighted that so many people want to help Terri enjoy her special day and we appreciate the kindness that people have shown to Terri.

It is also know locally as the Heart Institute. But I posted that she was admitted to "Northside Hospital and Heart Institute" whose "emergency room is staffed 24hrs by a team of doctors, nurses and technicians who have been specially trained in emergency cardiac care. The facility is nationally known as a training center for cardiologists.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one thinking that! Every time I hug my kitty, I wish Terri could have one, too -- my heart goes out to her there alone in her room. I hope how soon she gets out! I hope for the holidays -- she can spend that time with her family and their now HUGE extended family. [Hey, Mrs. Schindler -- can we (all) come over?!]

I do hope and pray for a good outcome, soon -- this has gone on WAY too long.

I'm not sure what you are trying to imply. The term stable condition means there are no major active medical issues and the patient's basic vital functions are not fluctuating or in need of support. It doesn't mean that the patient is cured or in anything even approaching "normal". I'm sure you have heard patients' conditions described as critical but stable condition. This means that the patient is at the time stable as above, however still in critical condition meaning that the patient's life is in the balance.

You have my respect for adopting a child with CP, pollywog.

The joy has been ALL OURS!! Actually our dear Saudia has exceeded all expectations. When we first got her they said she was a " veggie"...(where have I HEARD that term before??)...within months she was responding. She has a learning disability, but walks, and acts normal in most respects. She had surgery two years ago on her " bad leg"...and her spine is now giving her some problems, but WHAT A JOY she is.She received " President Bush's Honor of Achievement" when she graduated from grade school in June. Of course I wept! She is below grade level( in 7th grade and works about on a 5th grade level) but has she "Come a long way Baby!!" We also have a 25 year old autistic/deaf/ developmentally delayed son. He is a real handful but we wouldn't trade him for anything or anyone.!! God has blessed us so. No wonder Terri's case has gripped my heart.
