SANTA MONICA -- In the Robert Redford Building, toilets flush themselves with rainwater -- except for the urinals, which use no water at all -- the floors are made of bamboo and the carpets from hemp.

All of which help make it, the actor said during a dedication ceremony in the Los Angeles suburb of Santa Monica on Thursday, one of the "greenest" buildings in America and a glimpse into the environmentally friendly future.

I can see it now, it cost $100,000 more than conventional structures, and will reclaim almost $1,000 of those costs through savings during the life of the structure...yep, sounds like a bargain to me.

Hmmm.....

To reduce heating and cooling needs, prevailing winds and temperatures were taken into account in situating [Bush's Crawford ranch house]. The house also uses two lesser-known environmentally friendly technologies: geothermal heating and wastewater recycling.

Inside a closet at Bush's special vacation compound, a collection of pipes is thrust deep into the earth... and the temperature is perpetually 67 degrees. Water circulates through this zone and then back up into house pipes to heat or cool the building. The system uses less electricity than conventional heating and cooling installations, but that electricity does come from the Crawford electric grid. The ranch also has a well and recycles its water. Water that flows out a tub drain is known as "gray water"; water from the toilet is "black water." Bush's home recycles both types via subterranean filtration tanks and uses the resultant cleaner water in the garden.

Red Redford is the typical super elite Watermelon Jihadists.

He can carve up a mountain, large part owned by the government, if I'm not mistaken, to make massive profits from a ski site.

Then, he installs urinals with the capability to flush, and the left wingers and little watermelons cheer his noble efforts.

Notice how his ski empire never gets torched by the ELF, ALF and other Green Jihadist Organizations.

How phoney.

If he really wanted to be 'Green' he would operate from tents under the trees, but that might involve some actual sacrifice and discomfort.

I believe that it is in the national interest to conserve resources. If we can save water, we should take reasonable steps to do so. That having been said, I have no interest in taking any advice from a limo lib who thinks he is above all of us.

Redford's Sundance Ski Resort is on 6,000 acres. How many trees were cut down so he could have a business to make a profit? How many guest accomodations were made from trees that had to be cut down and harvested so he could make a profit? How much gas and oil is wasted by people driving to go play at his resort so he can make a profit? How many innocent animals have been run over by cars getting to the resort so he can make a profit? How much human wasted has been flushed down his toilets by guests who pay a lot of money so he can make a profit? How much electricity is used hauling people up the mountain on lifts so he can make a profit? Sundance Kid, you can shove it.
