And irony of ironies, the last name of the general who helped defeated the Nazis was Eisenhower, which originally meant "iron hewer" or "iron miner". And that just goes to show... uhm, something sinister, I guess.

For those who don't believe there's such a thing as media bias. Lying headline. (English is not the language of Germans.)

To be expected from Reuters, a service that still won't use the word "terrorist" to describe members of Al-Qaida.

Funny thing about the Nazis as a political philosphy we loath them. But as a military power we not only have some respect for but have adopted and improved upon many of thier weapons and tactics. The whole combined arms doctrine is an evolution of the Blitzkrieg. Modern cruz missles are the decendants of the buzzbombs and V2s, jet airplanes? assault rifles? yea they invented those too.So I guess we should be real offended that someone borrowed one of thier names for a military operation....NOT

Actually, the German "Eisenhammer" kind of trips off the tongue. Howsabout Russian: "Zhelezniy Molotok"? Naaaah, too gutteral, hard to pronounce while eating a peanut butter sandwhich. Any other suggestions? The German words for Flamethrower and bagpipes come to mind.
Not the same word, unfortunately, though a sort of hybrid might be arranged.

Maybe "Operation Rubber Squeaky Hammer" would strike terror in the enemies hearts?
