Liberal-radio sale (Drobnys DITCH Their Losing Project)

A group headed by a former adviser to the Democratic National Committee has taken over the effort to create a liberal-radio network to compete with conservative-talk radio.

Mark Walsh, who is also a former America Online executive, said his investors' group bought the proposed network from the venture capitalists who started AnShell Media LLC in February. The purchase price was not announced.

Methinks this whole project was nothing but a feel-good scam to make liberals feel better. This project is going NOWHERE. BTW, notice that Walsh didn't even mention Ed Schultz. I read another story about him wanting Al Franken as the host. Blowhard Ed is now OUT of the picture. It will be fun to read Blowhard Ed's excuse for being removed before he was even in, especially after all that heavy duty bragging by Blowhard Ed.

The curious thing was that Chicago Magazine ran a feature on the Drobnys like they were about to break out and put the network on the air right on schedule. It included a bio of the pair of accountants and talked about the criticism of the idea which was and is heavy. And then they sell it like a bad development deal on the Nortwest Side.

I think the Drobnys knew from the get-go that the Liberal Talk Radio Network was a NO-GO. They just did it to make the liberals feel good for awhile. This project is DBA (Dead BEFORE Arrival).

I respectfully disagree that they knew it was a dog from the start. Pictures in the article show them with all the big demos. They were political groupies with checkbooks that were with Gork the night the election was thrown into recount. What they did was the business thing where they painted the pig up nicely and handed her to her new date, IMHO.

So you're saying that the Drobnys came up with this whole Liberal Radio Talk Show as a way to scam money off some sucker?

Yet another liberal "let's pay a shill to lie for us" plan gone down the tubes? This is getting old.

Why do people always say there are no liberal talk radio shows anyway? They have Alan Colmes and Sam Donaldson, what more do they want?

Why not? Liberals are implicitly dishonest intentionally or accidentally because of LDS (Liberal Denial Syndrome).

So much for the notion of "liberal" talk radio...[g]

Watch this get spun as an "eeeeeeeevil" plot to keep "liberal" voices off the airwaves...

If a liberal talk radio program could make money it would already be on the air.

They want all of the radio spectrum.

In addition to Colmes and Donaldson, they have NPR, Radio Pacifica, and the radio news departments of ABC, NBC, CBS, and most local radio news depts.

Can you imagine liberals like Al Franken having to do real work? Hosting a daily talk radio show is not easy. It requires a substantial amount of preparation to go on the air for several hours a day and be interesting and well-informed. This is not like a three-minute SNL skit. I just don't think Al Franken has the work ethic for such a gig.

My thoughts are that they drank the coolade in Clinton's glory days and then unloaded their own pooch on someone else when they realized the folly of their idea.

I guess someone pointed out how lucrative left wing hate radio was on the commercial free "non-profit" stations that receive tax payer funding like NPR (National Public Radio) and the Pacifica network. Even though such stations are supposed to be limited in their political speech because they operate as 501c3 charities they are rarely prosecuted.

Maybe the investors saw that they'd have too much competition and too few advertisers.

At the time, Sheldon and Anita Drobny said they had lined up $10 million and hoped to be on the air by this fall. But the Drobnys never hired any talent, purchased any stations or signed any distribution contracts, the Associated Press reports.

No there there, Shel?

No. Even The Hedgehog would refuse to do the scenes with her.

It would be very interesting to see the Drobnys cash balance on this venture. My guess is that they waved their check-book around, but never got around to writing the check. The questions is, how much money did they bilk out of other unsuspecting suckers (the best kind...).

I'm sure it was a scam with some liberal feel-good smoke and mirrors thrown in. The bottom line is that despite the Drobnys big song and dance act about setting up a vast syncated liberal radio talk show, they put NO money nor effort into it except for Mrs. Drobny showing up on a few talk shows to boast about how her network would beat Rush. I think her organization was called Amshell but a better name would be Amscam.
