The director of "The Reagans" complained Monday that CBS butchered his made-for-TV movie, ultimately making it too incoherent for the network to air.
"We were, in a sense, banished" from the editing process before CBS ditched it, director Robert Ackerman said.

It must be the last nail in your career's coffin to make "hit piece" against a Conservative hero that sucks so bad even SeeBS won't show it.....

Film producers on Monday, however, cited a line attributed to Reagan in Edmund Morris' book, "Dutch," about AIDS being a plague brought down because of illicit sex.
Wasn't Dutch a book about a fictional conversation with Reagan?

Obviously Mr director, if the movie had not been so patently misrepresenting and partisan than CBS wouldn't have felt compelled to attempt to polish this terd.
In all seriousness, could people like Robert Ackerman and this Davis lady be any more pathetic?

The author blames Governor Reagan's for personal family problems that occured during the 60's. He mentions it in the book. "Dutch" is as much a hit piece as "The Reagans."

It wasn't my fault. Really.
And now the blame game begins after losing $9 million of CBS' money.

His co-star, Judy Davis, criticized the "level of censorship" involved in CBS' cancellation of the movie. "The film being taken off the air ... appears to be an attack on free speech," said Davis, who plays Nancy Reagan. "We don't like what we suspect you might be saying, so we'll do everything in our power to remove it from a major network so people can't hear what you're saying." Not very bright, is she?
Judy, try to follow: when the government takes a movie off the air, that's called censorship; when the producer takes a movie off the air because it has been revealed to be an embarrassing, money-losing piece of crap, that's called free enterprise.

"Dutch" is indeed fiction masquerading as historical fact.
Morris, although a very good writer, didn't seem to have enough of a grasp on economics or policitcs to write this biography.

Well, maybe they are.

"The film being taken off the air ... appears to be an attack on free speech," said Davis, who plays Nancy Reagan. And if they made a movie about Ms. Davis that portrayed her as a cheap hooker with a drug problem, would she defend it as free speach or condemn it as libel?

The stagehands heard you and you avoided arrest. Your free speech rights are still intact.

Excerpts from CyberAlert, Media Research Center, November 25, 2003 ...
3. Director & Producer of The Reagans Movie Blast CBSs Moonves
In a conference call with reporters on Monday, the director and a producer of The Reagans mini-series, as well as Showtimes programming chief, on whose network the movie will air this Sunday night after CBS Chairman Les Moonves rejected it, blasted Moonves for calling the movie unbalanced and for claiming he was unaware of its content as it was being filmed. Both CBS and Showtime are owned by Viacom.
4. Preview of What Script Suggests Well See Sunday on The Reagans
Preview of 'The Reagans movie on Showtime this Sunday night, which CBS had rejected, compiled by the MRCs Rich Noyes from a shooting script posted earlier this month by Salon.com. Part 1 of 7: Overview and Caveats. If the final product follows the outline of the script that Salon posted, it will present a liberal caricature of the Reagan administration with an often befuddled and lost Ronald Reagan following the instructions of others. Reagan's conservative policies are presented as cruel or counterproductive; successes such as the end of the Cold War are painted as totally independent of Reagan's conservative thinking.
5. Showtimes The Reagans: Reaganomics Victimized the Poor
Preview of 'The Reagans movie on Showtime. Part 2 of 7: Reaganomics victimized the poor. The script makes no reference to the booming U.S. economy during the 1980s, but is peppered with references to cruel budget cuts and the homeless.
6. Reagan Won the Cold War by Overcoming Conservative Warmongers
Preview of 'The Reagans movie on Showtime. Part 3 of 7: Reagan won the Cold War by overcoming conservative warmongers.
7. Showtimes The Reagans: Idiot Reporters Supported Reagan
Preview of 'The Reagans movie on Showtime. Part 4 of 7: Idiot reporters supported Reagan.
8. The Reagans Centers Narrative on Reagan Flummoxed by Iran-Contra
Preview of 'The Reagans movie on Showtime. Part 5 of 7: Conniving by Reagans staff led to Iran-contra, which is portrayed as a scandal of the same magnitude as Nixons Watergate.
9. Showtime: Reagan Began Losing Faculties at Start of Presidency
Preview of 'The Reagans movie on Showtime. Part 6 of 7: Reagan began losing his faculties almost as soon as he became President.
10. Showtime Movie: Reagans as a Dysfunctional American Family
Preview of 'The Reagans movie on Showtime. Part 7 of 7: The Reagan family as dysfunctional.

I have now committed the essence of this sentiment to memory for use in the future against what has become a tired liberal talking point. There is a difference between true censorship and being financially penalized and subsequently ignored because you suck. Thank you for this.
