So this would be "super-super" bad news for the Democrat pretenders?

It is nice having the Commerce Department run by Republicans again. I really don't believe much what that Dept says, however, too much. For eight years it was the ministry of propaganda for Clinton. Anyone remember Ron whatsisname? Whole thing needs to be disbanded. If the Dems ever get back in, they will rewrite the history of this recovery, like they did Reagans.

Tom Daschle is saddened, deeply saddened.

Hmmm...things are going swimmingly for the economy (ignore your neighbors who still aren't working folks)...and whip out those credit cards just in time for Christmas...yeah, right.

Somewhere last week, I heard that the previous 2 times GDP grew at 7% or more were (1) shortly after the Reagan tax cut and (2) shortly after the Kennedy tax cut.

On a personal level, all my neighbors are doing excellent and I have had my best year ever. Things are good in my neck of the woods. I beleive and hope that everybody has a equally great new year. I know they will. My barber, last week, said things are really picking up as well. I have a friend who owns a shop in the mall (Galleria, Houston, TX), and he says that business is really picking up. I hope this contiues.

Things are very bad here in Central NC (and going to get worse, since IBM is offshoring ALL their local jobs in the Triangle). I fear for my surviving favorite restaurants.
Admittedly, this has much to do with the 72 new taxes we've been hit with in the past eighteen months
My daddy says Central Kentucky is a series of ghost towns, and my sister in Arizona is overrun with footsore illegals. To top it all off, I broke a tooth yesterday, and that's going to make me extra cranky. Hm.

Sorry to hear that friend. I hope the new year treats you better. Go get that tooth fixed. I know those can really hurt.
