I've not been big on Sears but this is something to consider...

Please note forwarded message: I Assume you have all seen the reports about how Sears is treating its reservist employees who are called up? By law, they are required to hold their jobs open and available, but nothing more.

Usually, people take a big pay cut and lose benefits as a result of being called up, BUT...

Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs, for all called up reservist employees, for up to two years. I submit that in an era of corporate malfeasance, Sears is an exemplary corporate citizen and should be recognized for its contributions.

I suggest we all shop at Sears, and be sure to find a manager to tell them why we are there so the company gets the positive reinforcement it well deserves.

I decided to check it out before I sent it forward. I sent the following email to the Sears Customer Service Department:

I received this email and I would like to know if it is true. If it is, the Internet may have just become one very good source of advertisement for your store. I know I would go out of my way to buy products from Sears instead of another store for a like item even if it was cheaper at the other store.

Here is their answer to my email......................

Dear Customer:

I have had multiple bad experiences with Sears many years back. I haven't shopped with them in 27 years.
My Christmas shopping will BEGIN at Sears this year. If they have what I'm looking for, I'll buy it there. And I WILL let them know why!

Walmart is a cess pool, it really is, their big box blights on america.... I know the founder was as american as apple pie.. but he's dead and the board running the show now has no concern for america, local communities or anything else...

Not to mention the products are sub standard junk, stores are overcroweded and dirty, and you basically are treated like cattle when shopping there.

I don't shop Sears routinely, but I do shop there, and they clearly are one of the old school retailers that still have a concept of Civic duty.

I haven't been in a Wal Mart in 5 years, and don't plan on going into one anytime soon.

Sears is a good US company in this and other ways. I like their hardware department for tools and other men's toys. Their men's casual wear is fine and the prices OK.

I'm not a Wal-Mart basher, but to get low prices it has shut out a lot of US companies that made similar products only a few cents per unit higher than the foreign ones it now uses.

What is the Red Chinese Army selling?
If you buy Chinese you have roughly a 80% chance that your purchase directly comes from the Chinese Military.
According to a report I watched a few years back on .... ?(60 minutes, 48 hours, or something), each unit of the Chinese Military is responsable for supporting itself. Many do this by manufacturing products that are shipped to us.

Sears made an excellent decision with their acquisition of Land's End. This will be the first time in recent memory that I have gone to Sears for clothes. I have always been an ardent admirer of their Craftsman line of tools, but with the addition of Land's End, Sears seems to be really making an effort to set themselves apart from the Wal-Mart mentality. And they will get my business for that reason alone. Their excellent treatment of reservists is just icing on the cake.

In the event you were unaware, the WALMART pharmacy does not accept militar retiree insurance (TRICARE).

Wrong.

Although I do not use it (I prefer my small local pharmacist, the price is the same) the Wal-mart pharmacy is required to accept TRICARE if it accepts any other third party payer.

And especially if it accepts any Medicare whatsoever.

Please furnish me the location of the Wal-mart that you know does not accept TRICARE, via Freepmail
