Agawa's comments illustrate an alarming lurch toward militarism in Japan

Who could blame them? The Japanese can see the demise of the U.S. Military under Clinton, and can see that Bush is focused on the problems elsewhere in the world. I think that Japan sees the U.S. Guarantee of Japan's safety as not very credible. Japan is only looking out for their own interests - as it should be.

In fact, Bush should be supporting Japan in this. He should tell China: "YOU have a problem with N. Korea ... the U.S. is not going to stand aside and watch YOU and your Communist ally develop nuclear weapons while the free nations of S. Korea, Japan, and Taiwan do not.

I once read something that said the ingestion of alcohol could somewhat impede the effects of radiation. In the event of nuclear attacdk drink heavily.

you read wrong.

Radiation's effects are as a mutagen... ETOH won't change that.
