Madonna's bestseller November 26, 2003

MADONNA'S second children's book Mr Peabody's Apples is on top of the New York Times best sellers list for children this week. The queen of pop has topped the book chart just eight weeks after her last number one with The English Roses.

Children are loving Madonna's tales.

As funny as it may sound, Madonna has kept The Cat In The Hat from going number one in the book world. The Cat In The Hat is being propelled by the movie starring Mike Myers, Alec Baldwin and Kelly Preston.

Madonna's career as an author couldn't have come at a better time. Her American Life album has hit with the American audience and despite RIAA awarded it platinum status, it is nowhere near achieving the award. Sales are hovering at just over 600,000 in the US making it only 60 per cent of the way to earning platinum.

The album may get a kick along next month with the release of her Remixed And Revisited EP featuring the Britney Spears-Christina Aguilera performance of Like A Virgin from the MTV Music Awards. The EP also contains the previously unreleased Your Honesty.

I can't imagine anything more dreadful than unwrapping a new Madonna CD and breathlessly waiting for it to play.

Does a book even have to sell to make it ot the NYT bestseller's list these days? It seems so ridiculous the number of books that debut on the list at the top, having just been released with no time to have sold any copies.

There was a first book? I just purchased "Dick and Jane". Does that count?

Considering what a trollop Madonna is, you would think that she would choose a different title than "Mr. Peabody's Apples."

Is the purpose of her writing children's books to develop a young following whom she can later convert to her agenda?

Madonna would be among the last persons I would buy a book for my child. As to it making the "best seller" list, it means only, as far as I can tell, that the book sold big in certain NY stores. Of course, once it is on the list, it provides a big boost for sales.

Have pity on her; she is writing (with the help of a ghost writer and spell checker, no doubt) at her level of competence!

I won't buy one of her children's books until it covers sado-masochism, lesbian kissing, nudity and vulgar language, like the rest of her body of work.

Who the heck is buying this trash anyway? Lord help us if it is parents.
