Hillary Clinton follows Bush to Baghdad
November 28, 2003 20:40 IST
Her thunder had been stolen by US President George W Bush, but former US first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton nevertheless kept her date with American troops in Iraq.
The senator arrived in Baghdad on Friday after sharing Thanksgiving dinner with US troops in Afghanistan on Thursday.
She was accompanied by fellow senator Jack Reed (Rhode Island) on the scheduled visit .
Meanwhile, Bush is back in the US. He is expected to spend some time in his ranch in Crawford, Texas

"Her thunder had been stolen by US President George W Bush..."
I was so irrittated when I found out this witch was pulling this OBVIOUS campaign stunt. I'm telling you, she's going to run in '04. But Bush just trumped her in spades.
I'm loving it!

It's all about her.
To: AmericanMade1776
she doesn't seem to know anything about security, unless it's a political ploy to perhaps be "in danger" while overseas to prove how "brave" and "tough" she is

Limited pictures of the two but I've seen a couple somewhere... Notice the slant and put down in the following from an AFP article
Unlike the US president, who never even left the main military camp at Baghdad airport during his two-and-a-half hour stopover, Clinton then left the heavily fortified complex around the palace to go and visit troops. "At the moment, she is on a visit with a military division outside the security zone," said the spokeswoman.

I think we should all show some class by wishing Hillary a safe trip, and thank her for whatever moral boost she can generate for the troops.
I am very concerned for her safety, because God knows, we dont need to have Bush burdened with having to rescue the very first american POW with cankles.

Hillary knows she is in no danger. She's on the side of the terrorists and they surely won't do anything to harm her during her visit.

President Bush is an impossible act to follow, Your Heinous.
Slurp up your leftover turkey casserole in Irag and go home to your puppet, Weasely Clark.
The two of you can prepare a report on exactly how to solve all the Iraqi and Afghani problems.

Funny, haven't see a picture of the TWO SENATORS yet. Spot on. The liberal media have made this HRH Hillary's grand tour meeting with her minions. As an AOL subscriber, I saw Hillary's picture eating with the troops in Afghanistan on the welcome screen all day yesterday despite the news and available photographs of GWB's trip to Baghdad and the fact that the story was much more newsworthy. Close to 100 Congressmen and Senators have preceeded Clinton to the area, but none of these visits received anywhere near the publicity this one has, for a freshman senator no less. It demonstrates how biased the mainstream media really is and how difficult it will be to combat her once she decides to run.

Hillary must of banned the cameras, instead of the phones on the flight.
To: AmericanMade1776
Just how many inches outside the safety zone is she? How many troops have been taken away from their duties to guard her and her minions? Pray for our troops who have been put in greater danger because of her all her fanfare.

Baghdad prepared for Hillary's visit......
An Iraqi woman and her son walk by anti-US graffiti in Baghdad's Azamiyah neighborhood. Former US first lady Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (news - web sites) arrived in Baghdad hot on the heels of a lightning stealth visit by US President George W. Ok, here's a thought for you forward thinking folks out there: Rove learns of Hillary's trip in Mid-October (Rove is very well connected). He's incensed a Clinton visits the troops in IRAQ during the Holidays - and decides to make HRC pay.
He's says, "No WAY Hilarity gets credit for this if it can be helped. Rove to Card: "lets get W to Baghdad".
Card to Bush in mid-OCT: "I have an idea..."
Bush, probably not knowing about HRC's trip until a bit later, green lights the plan. But even so, when he does find out later, he likes the idea that today, Friday after Thanksgiving, Hilary is landing in IRAQ with her ears filled about Bush's recent morale boosting trip. Oh yes, he likes that a LOT.
So, so far so good.
But, the only downside is the following spin: Democrats see the Bush is so worried about Hilary, he respects her ability to sway us so much, he actually schedules a secret trip to upstage HER. The blond babe is SO DANGEROUS a siren to the GOP that he has to do something this extreme...
I hope that the leftist nuts buy this idea (and it's really nuts after all, thus my thought it will appeal to them), and draw hope for her future from this...for I sincerely hope she DOES run in 2008. I REALLY HOPE she gets nominated in 2008 - for the total RED COMMUNIST no-conscience nut cases out there will flock to her, and by association, the godless dems will be exposed for what they really are. (maybe a pipe dream)
Bottom line question: should the white house ensure it doesn't get out that the IRAQ suprise trip was planned AFTER they found out HRC was going over there? Does it matter?

a freshman senator A freshman, junior senator, from the minority party, who's not running for anything. Should get a paragraph or two on page 17 of the local paper.

You are so right. Who even knows that other Senators and Congresspersons have visited there? Not many I can assure you. The media is spinning this like a circus top for Hillary. For Bush is was a "photo op" for Hillary! it is out of genuine concern for the troops.

I don't think I qualify as a 'forward thinking' Freeper. I'm probably as backwards as they get! But that works out well, because I am able to see what's about to hit us from the rear flank that way. And what I see is a cheap shot from the ultimate back-bencher himself, Bill Clinton. Something tells me he's had about enough of W, and is plotting something to embarass the prez.
