Intersection To Be Named For Joey Ramone

NOVEMBER 28TH, 2003 The corner of the Bowery and Second Street will soon be called "Joey Ramone Way." The city will honor the late front man of the seminal punk band The Ramones by unveiling a street sign this Sunday at 1 p.m. The block is home to the CBGB nightclub where the band rose to fame. The club will host a reception after the dedication. The Ramones are considered by many to be the original punk band, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year. Joey Ramone died of cancer in April 2001.

You know, all I saw was the headline of this thread in the sidebar, and I came over here figuring that the City in its usual idiocy had decided to put the sign up on the street in Forest Hills where he grew up ... I was specifically going to post, "Morons! If it's anywhere besides Bowery and 2nd, it's wrong!"
