WASHINGTON — President Bush a "liar?" Donald Rumsfeld a defense secretary who "betrayed" his troops? Republican leaders in Congress part of a "concerted effort to erase the 20th century?"
Author Michael Moore is part of a group of outspoken liberals who have found a new attitude.

There wasn't a single credible voice listed in the whole article. Michael Moore? Molly Ivins!!? Paul Krugman!!??
But, I say, rant on, liberals. The more you rant, the better Bush's re-election numbers get.

What passes as a "liberal" these days has always been angry. The "Arab street" is another group that's always angry. If you want to separate "feminists" from the "liberals," they are always angry, too. I won't even talk about Je$$e Jacka$$, and Calypso Louis.

This sentence defines the problems for today's 'liberals':
"He and other liberals think part of the reason for their absence from the radio is that they have been, in Neas' words, "too earnest, too wonky" for prime time."
Gee, we've just been too smart for the dumb ass hicks out there. We've got to dumb down to the level of Rush Limbaugh.
James Carvile and Begala the Forehead have just been too high-toned for the past decade. Ted Kennedy warning the nation against Bork just wasn't demagogic enough. We've got to get mean.
What they miss is that fact that conservatives/libertarians have been relentlessly substantive, while liberals have been relentlessly demagogic. It's been this way so long and so predictably, that there are jokes about this. Define a racist: Someone winning an argument with a liberal.
That's all we've heard from the highest liberals to the lowest. Republicans want to starve children, throw old people into the gutter, take away their medicine, poison the water and the air, repeal civil liberties, lynch blacks, make all women pregnant and barefoot and lock them in the kitchen.
What does that prime demagogue Ralph Neas think? He's been too substantive, too smart for the rednecks and not demagogic enough.
Prediction: Liberal talk radio will fail. You can't be on the air for 3 hours a day without substance. People won't listen to it.
Proposal: Trade talk radio, think tanks and conservative columnists for network tv (news and entertainment), movies, NY Times, Wash Post, LA Times, Time, Newsweek, US News, AP & Reuters. Would liberals make this trade?
To: prisoner6
"Nearly two dozen liberal groups have created Americans Coming Together, an effort to coordinate labor unions, environmentalists and feminist groups...."I am certain this joke was unintended.

The polls show about 17% of Americans consider themselves liberal. Which equals about 1/3 of the Dem party, since our country is split about 50-50 between the two major parties.
Dean, apparently, will coast to the Dem nomination with a plurality of around 33% popular support, probably picking up a greater percentage of the delegates. But --- what about the remainder of the Dem party, not to mention Republicans and independents!?!? Oh, angry people don't think that far ahead. LOL.

Were I a soldier facing imminent danger every day in Iraq or Afghanistan or any of the other places the US Military is serving for their country; if I were that service man or woman and I read this article and knew these people were trashing my Commander in Chief, a man of honor as well as trashing their country, I would find a way to show them for the traitors, saboteurs and thoroughly un-patriotic turn-coats they are. How dare they say we support our troops when they are proving themselves more dangerous than the enemy we face daily!
These 60s holdovers who have never left the barricade mentality of their youth are not only pitiful but deplorable in their efforts to bring about another failed war they are cowards; appeasers, yellow dogs who will run away in a moments notice leaving empty promises swirling about like the spent leaves falling from autumn trees. These sour people dont represent my country or me, they represent a failed socialist movement that men like Moore embrace, trying desperately to find a new cause other than maintaining the Republic and fighting for freedom. They are despicable anti-American zealots were I a soldier, I would happily face them on the front line any day, any time, any where for they are my enemy.

Wow. What wonderful disarray.
Usually by this time in the election cycle, the out-of-power party is at least trying to pull their feuding factions back together again for the Big One. These idiots are getting shriller by the minute, alienating people faster than, oh, say, Howard Dean saying something like "I want to be the president of even you gap-toothed, in-bred redneck hicks in the South..."
The Demo party establishment is soiling their britches over Dean's grassroots popularity among the semi-literate masses, even to the point of plotting to sabotage him in favor of somebody more electable. The BigMoney/Big Media elites are trying to drag things to the left, but who could they support? Kucinich? Sharpton? Stalin?
Hillary???
I think it's time to go undercover over at DU and start chastizing the Dean faithful for not having the integrity to support Rev'rund Al because he's not an "electable" white guy.

Like the conservatives who helped lay the groundwork for the Reagan and Gingrich victories, today's liberals are angry. I love it when our political opponents draw the wrong lessons from history. The "angry white male" stuff was largely an invention of the left. The real progress was made when the base was optimistic and positive. Reagan and Gingrich (in his "Contract with America role," which was quite different than his Minority Whip role) are good examples. They didn't appeal to an angry base. They appealed to a base that was energized and confident.
But let the libs go ahead and be angry. That will erode their support among mainstream America even further.

They've always been angry. What's happening now is not a grass-roots movement at all, but an attempt by well-heeled elitists to replace commitment by a number of people with the sheer bulk of money - the outrageously misnamed People For The American Way being one of the first, and MoveOn.org being the latest.
This article's tone is typical - "we're cute, we're 'feisty' and we're not going to take it anymore." Puh-leeze. They're just as loud, obnoxious, vicious, and mendacious as they've ever been - nothing has changed, nothing except that in Bush they've found a focus for pure, unadulterated, insensate hatred that they've not had since Reagan graced that office. That their intellectual luminaries count among their members such ill-educated lightweights as Al Franken and Michael Moore should be enough to send distress flares up all over the country. Instead airheads such as this author gush about them just as they gushed over Hillary being the "smartest woman in the world." They honestly think their only problem is that they're so smart the rest of the country will have to catch up to them. Pathetic.

To: prisoner6
Wonderful. Let them get more attention. People will just become more aware of how "hateful and mean spirited" they really are. It will backfire.
To: Snuffington
Absolutely correct. These liberal fools have made the cardinal error of believing their own PR. They've swallowed their own nonsense, like the "angry white male" excuse for their own losses in '94 or the claim that Rush Limbaugh is a vicious demogogue (spread by people who've never listened to him) and are now trying to use it to promote themselves, which means they are heading for a major crash and burn.
The conservative movement hasn't been successful because it's "angry," but because it's offered ideas that work, like lower taxes to spur economic growth and school vouchers to give parents more choice over their kids' education. People voted for Reagan and Dubya because we honestly liked them and perceived them as decent, patriotic Americans who really loved their country and their fellow citizens. All I hear coming from these idiots on the left is mindless vitriol.
Think of all the most angry, fire-breathing, far-right candidates of the past 20 years, and ask yourself how well they did in the general elections (or for that matter, even in the GOP primaries), and you'll have an idea of how much good all this far-left hate-spewing is going to do for the Democrats. It's like the last, frustrated screams of the dinosaurs as they sank into the tar pits of extinction.

When exactly has the left NOT been angry?
For these twits, yesterday never occurred, they have no memories, learn nothing, and are shocked and dismayed at every single day's dawn to SUDDENLY discover that things are happening that don't please them much!
