Ford Motor Co. Executive Vice President James Padilla became one of Detroit's most prominent Mexican citizens Friday, receiving his citizenship and the controversial Matricula Consular identification card.

Padilla's symbolic gesture was a bold move politically and from a business standpoint, considering his position with the world's second-largest automaker.

When I flew Delta last week, I was required to show a government issued photo-ID to board the plane. They were very specific about that.

Interesting comment! I wrote Delta a few months ago suggesting that they not accept drivers licenses as ID from those states that issue them to illegals. Evidently they went me one better. Good news.

Same here, I'd rather buy a used Yugo than one from Ford.

If Padilla is trying to lend legitimacy to the invasive hordes I hope he doesn't mind if his company remains on my boycott list. I tell everyone I know about the Ford Foundation, how they were distanced from by the company during the Sixties and how the latest crop of execs do indeed embrace the concept that "Diversity is Job-1".

Let's not forget that fine example of Mexican-American teamwork, the Festiva (or Fester, as most of its unfortunite owners came to call it). Little kids could be found whacking on them with sticks, mistaking them for pinatas.

Experts: `Transnational citizens´ will change U.S.-Latin relations

That article was over 2 years old. It's sure nice to see that things are going as planned. (/sarcasm)

"Matricula Consular cards are the focal point of a heated national debate. Supporters, like Padilla, say Mexican nationals need access to valid photo identification to conduct everyday business."

So.....doesn't Mexico issue passports? What's the problem?

At this moment, I am waiting for an auto dealer to call me with pricing on a Ford or Dodge 1 Ton truck. This makes me consider not dropping $46,000.00 on a Ford. Unfortunately, my present Dodge 1T is built in Mexico and I think the new ones are too. Now what in the heck do I do.

Chevrolet!

I am sure some of their parts come from other countries, but I think they still make them here.

They have good incentives, cash back and 0% financing.

Get their lowest price, and then say it is worth it, but more than I planned to pay.

Make sure the Sales Manager hears you, and he will crunch the numbers down most likely.

I saved 5 grand that way.

What will American citizenship mean twenty years from now?

American citizenship now doesn't mean much more than being qualified for jury duty. In 20 more years it'll be the butt of jokes.

Illegal immigration needs to be stopped. Hell, it should've been stopped years ago.

Dual-Citizenship?

Either you're an American or you are not! You can not have divided loyalties.

If anyone claims to have "citizenship" with another country they must IMHO be registered as a foreign agent and watched very closely!

I saw this this morning. It was only a matter of time. Citizenship in this nation is being devalued as we type. Anyone can get in and once here they have more rights than citizens.

I just bought a new GMC pickup two weeks ago. Made in the USA by Americans.

Ford has been bought by the Mexican lobby, and Dodge is a subsidiary of "Daimler-Chrysler" -- you know how good a buddy the Germans have been lately.

There are other domestic automobiles I can buy besides "El Fordo"!

"El Fordo" has lost another customer.

As if I didn't have enough reasons already with their funding of the enviornmentalist wacko Sierra Club, through the Ford Foundation.
