I read the list of Hollywood/entertainment figures who contributed to Prez Bush's re-election. (LA TIMES 11/16/03)
$2000:
1. Chuck Norris: One of my favorite actors...I don't think he will get an Oscar any time soon...But, so what? I remember an episode of WALKER TEXAS RANGER...Walker(Norris) tells others that he is going to a meeting with Gov. Bush.
2. Dino De Laurentiis: Produced many films...Like RED DRAGON, HANNIBAL, U-571, and CONAN THE BARBARIAN.
3. Terry Semel: Yahoo CEO
4. Richard Zanuck: Produced many films...Like ROAD TO PERDITION, RULES OF ENGAGEMENT, and DRIVING MISS DAISY.
5. Lili Zanuck: A producer-director...She directed RUSH, a film starring Jennifer Jason Leigh.
6. Amy Grant: I watched an ABC special about her...Her decision to divorce her first husband was really a painful one.
7. Jami Gertz: She and Tom Cruise made their acting debuts in ENDLESS LOVE (1981). She was in TWISTER (1996), playing the girlfriend of Helen Hunt character's husband. She was in SIXTEEN CANDLES (1984).
8. Jeff Shaara: Worked on the screenplay for GODS AND GENERALS.
$1000:
1. Ben Stein

Nice to see Semel on the list. Yahoo was on the verge of serious financial problems when he restored their financial health. He's a hero here in Silicon Valley.

Amy Grant: I watched an ABC special about her.. Wasn't she the contemporary "Christian" artist who was pocketing large sums and flapping her gums about the Lord word while screwing around on her husband?
Her decision to divorce her first husband was really a painful one.
Well you know what they say..."hurts" so good.

http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/index.html When it's finally available, check out the CNN transcript of Larry King's interview with Amy Grant and Vince Gill, that aired last night. Both of them emphatically deny adultry, and without Clinton-like weasel words.
I watched the King interview and was laughing out loud that Larry King, (like Don Imus), simply can't fathom two committed Christians, married to other people, experiencing a great attraction to each other, who don't "do it".
(Not only that. Grant said, and Gill confirmed, they never even discussed ending their marriages so that they could marry each other.)

I didn't know until I watched a Larry King rerun last night that Amy was just a senior in high school when she became the first platinum-album selling Christian music artist-- 1982's Age to Age.
I don't think that she cheated on Gray Chapman, but I don't really understand the whole metamorphosis of her relationship with him and then Vince Gill. I know that Johnny Cash had the same thing happen to him-- he was married when he met June and felt like maybe he was meant to be married til death he doth depart with June and not his then-current wife-- but I can't fully wrap my mind around the concept of fate and destiny and such. But, Johnny and June apparently were meant for one another, so who knows?

It's a parody album cover for a real band.

Ok - couple of things about Amy Grant.
I used to be a huge fan, but the whole divorce thing kinda turned me off to her music. In my book, in Christian music the message should match the messenger. And then in 2000, while she did not campaign with Al Gore, she was seen with him and his family at different events, and I recall seeing something about them being "friends" for a long time - since they are all from Tennessee.
So - her affiliation with Gore really turned me off to her, and I am very surprised that she donated to Bush. Good for her. Maybe the whole Gore thing was overplayed intentionally by Gore to increase his appeal to Christians.

By the way, Jami Gertz was in UNDERCOVER CHRISTMAS on CBS Sunday Night Movie. I think she would also be in STILL STANDING on Monday night.
