The default construct has to be secularism. There are too many religions out there, each one claiming to have the only truth, to operate a country under the aegis of religious morality. Secularism in government and taxation have to be the norm. The establishment clause takes care of the taxation angle. The other shoe is dropping, albeit excruciatingly slowly.
