The League of Women Vipers has been fooling American women for decades with their high-sounding name and published lofty aims and goals. They are one of the most successful organizations in this country that have been able to fool most of the people most of the time.

Several decades ago, a group of us young ladies in our local Womens Republican Club (knowledgeable conservatives all) elfishly decided to infiltrate the county LWV organization to see first-hand what goes on. Of course, we were very familiar with the League's MO beforehand.

So, about 5 of us joined the League at short intervals.

We weren't disappointed. Despite its name, there's no real "voting" in the LWV. Courses of LWV action are decided by "concensus". There is discussion, not true debates. The talking points on any issue are handed down from the League national headquarters through bulletins, pamphlets, "informational" brochures and recommended book-reading (leftist, liberal and socialistic-tilted books, that is).

The final decisions on activities and crusades arrived at always miraculously coincide with the League's national headquarter's positions on issues.

The local League was composed of bored, do-goody wives of well-to-do county attorneys, businessmen and the professorial class. There was a smattering of eager, innocent young housewives and mothers, looking for an opportunity to be useful to their community. The chapter leaders are always hard-core, smooth-talking, hard-driving liberal biddies who guide the chapters in the ways they should go after checking with their DC handlers for the stance that should be taken.

Occasionally, the League gets involved in a good community cause (they are relentless lobbyists with politicians), but, then, even a blind pig finds a truffle now and then, plus it's good cover.By the way, the League ladies are masters at using local media to the hilt, and the media LOVES the League.

The League of Women Vipers is even more a leftist organization now than it was when we five ladies went deep cover. After slightly less than a year, we all quit at once. We reported our adventure to our Republican club to enlighten our group what we had seen and heard in the flesh.

It was well worth it to be a Leaguer for a while, in spite of the insufferable meetings we had to attend. We were able to spread the truth having been there, seen that.

Leni

How about www.truthorfiction.com. I use that site a lot and like it. Anything they would have on that subject?

Being in the Congressional record doesn't necessarily validate it.

"Do you have any proof that the "Communist Goals" list is not a hoax?"

Maybe this article by Geoff Metcalf will answer your query:

For your analysis

"According to what the mainstream disseminators of misinformation and disinformation tell us, "We won the Cold War and Communism, although not quite dead, is dying." That's their story and they're sticking to it. However, even a casual analysis of facts in evidence suggests a distinctly different reality.

"Since 1991 I have been distributing in various forms a list of Communist goals and objectives. First I would mail a list to anyone who asked for it and promised to copy and distribute it to friends, enemies, family and associates. Later (and still) I have an abbreviated list posted to my web page. W. Cleon Skousen authored a 1958 book titled, "The Naked Communist." I have tried, unsuccessfully, to invite Skousen onto my radio show, but he is quite elderly now and eschews talk radio. "If I did it for you, everyone else would want to do interviews, and I'm too old and tired. ..."

I have been blessed with being able to interview several great thinkers before mortality preempted future bookings. I shouldn't pout, but rather be grateful for Skousen's body of work ... and I am.

Cleon Skousen has had a rich and multifaceted life. He was an FBI agent, the police chief of Salt Lake City, Utah, and a full professor at Brigham Young University.

I could (and probably should) write separate columns on each of the following items in the subsequent list of 1958 Communist Goals. However, this information (and commentary) is not an event, but a process. Therefore, as an introduction (as I practice restraint) here is the Skousen 1958 laundry list/wish list of Communist goals. As you read these please note these were 1958 Communist goals. This is not another cyberspace urban legend. Florida Congressman A.S. Herlong Jr. entered this list into the Congressional Records in 1963.

"Your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to determine how many of these Communist goals have already been accomplished:"

The list follows, which I won't post.

"Forget Sean Hannity - Michael Savage is the man you might want to contact."

Uh...I dunno about that! This MIGHT just blow Savage's gasket for sure!! (I do worry about him some days...he IS an explosive fellow!)

Thanks for the website, I'll have to check it out!

If you read long enough at Snopes, you'll see what I mean about her far-left views. They are quite pervasive. After a while, it's no fun reading that site any more... too much propaganda.

Conservatives are willing to debate the issues on the full range of facts and logic,

Liberals just start 'name calling' when they can't give a reply that doesn't go against their beliefs.

Thanks for asking the question. In addition to communists goals,I googled Marxism, communism in America.I can start reading and not know where to stop!

I've read much about American socialism/communism/Marxism and do find it interesting. There has been a fight going on here since the 1890s.

We,of course, had our government infiltrated with Communists in the 1930s and through WW2 plus.

David Horowitz is a good source. He is a son of communists and is "a red diaper baby".He converted.

FashionBug clothing stores have some sort of affiliation with LWV, I believe. The lady CEO of the company sends letters during election time spouting their crap. Needless to say, I will NEVER shop at FashionBug.

Snopes, an organization of 2, has a strong left leaning tilt and lacks the personnel to correct their "errors".

Insight Magazine: Online rumor mill spins its own myth;

Snopes.com is presented by some media outlets as an unbiased arbiter of rumors and hoaxes. But critics say its liberal bias causes it to create urban legends of its own.

...snip...

In a telephone interview with INSIGHT, Barbara Mikkelson saw no need to change the status of the CNSNews report [concerning pre-9/11 websites that predicted the event] from "false" to "undetermined" or to include Livingstone's comments.

"I don't know the man, and I don't know his credentials," she says. "Just because somebody's a known terrorism expert does not necessarily mean he will be right about everything."

As for not getting back to CNSNews, she says, "I don't recall it, and I will point out that we get hundreds of e-mails every day and there are just the two of us."

Hogenson responds, "If they don't have time to correct their own mistakes, maybe they should not be in the business of trying to correct others."

Thought this story would be of interest since you posted an article on the league of liberal women voters in the past:
