SADDAM HUSSEIN CAPTURED
Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has been captured in his home town of Tikrit, according to reports.
There has been no independent verification of the news but Sky New's Foreign Editor Tim Marshall says the source of the news is usually reliable.
The US Defence Department says it has had no confirmation of the claims, which come from Iraqi Kurd leader Jalal Talabani, says the Iran news agency IRNA.
Hundreds of exultant people have taken to the streets of Kirkuk, firing weapons into the air in celebration.
A press conference has been announced for 12pm GMT.
In Baghdad, a spokeswoman for the US-led operation notified reporters that a "very important" announcement will be made at the press conference.

(I cannot adequately put into words the sheer disgust I am experiencing in having to watch CNN because Fox News is doing nothing but doing another piece of melodrama about Jackson!!)

One more raghead. The Administration would be wise to warn people that just because Saddam has been captured, it doesn't mean the attacks on our soldiers will stop. The worst thing they - the Administration - can do is claim that the attacks will stop; there are plenty more ragheads out there.

I was getting ready to go to bed when CNN came on with this report several minutes ago. (I know...they suck pond water but they're all I have for 24 hour news. I'm SO thankful for FR!). Guess I won't get much sleep....to excited! Waiting for the press conference in a couple of hours.
