Saddam's arrest won't end resistance: Hamas

The arrest of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein will not end Iraqi resistance against US-led forces, the leaders of the Islamic resistance movement Hamas and Islamic Jihad (Holy War) said on Sunday, UPI reports.

The two organisations had asked the Iraqi people to continue their resistance "until the end of this occupation of Arab and Muslim territory."

Islamic Jihad leader Nafez Azzam said by arresting Saddam, "the United States had achieved a very simple symbolic triumph."

"But we are certain that this would never end the Iraqi people's resistance against the American occupation that is taking their lands from them," he added.

Azzam said the Iraqi resistance would continue "carrying out painful strikes against the American occupation on their lands."

Hamas leader Adnan Asfour said the Iraqi people "would learn from the experience of the Palestinian people."

"The Palestinian people's symbolic leaders had been either killed or detained, but their resistance of the occupation has never been affected and they continued fighting the Israeli occupation," said Asfour.

Yassir Al Kelb dead? who knew?

Hamas wants the Iraqis to be as successful as the Palestinians, there's a wish for happiness if I ever saw one!

/sarcasm.

Perhaps it will now be clear, that we need to kill LARGE NUMBERS of Palestinians Militants -- starting with that corrupt, lying, murderous Egyptian --- Arafat..

The real road to peace, starts at the grave of Arafat...

Gee, that sounds just like the blather over at DU.com; like a rip-and-read from Terry McAuliffe's fax line.

Yes, Hamas, we know that the campaign in Iraq is but one part of the war on terror. Believe us, we haven't forgotten you, and your time is coming.

I am glad to see Hammas remind us that this is still a war against terrorism.

I sure hope that there is close scrutiny on foreign finds flowing into the DNC.

Yes, given Sadaam's filthy condition and rambling mouth, he most likely wasn't directing any attacks. But the psycological impact could prove to be most beneficial and encourage Iraqi civilian cooperation against any insurgents now that even the possibility of Sadaam returning to power is totally gone. I honestly thought he was dead myself since 25 million is a lot of money. I was surprised no one had turned him in for the money early on.

Ideally Sadaam would be interrogated and then tried quickly under a military tribunal and hung or shot. However, In reality- he will be breathing for years to come and his trial will be some international farce that will go on for years.

Good.
We just got warmed up with Saddam.
I know it sounds like Patton, but Americans usually thrive in a target-rich environment!

Since Hamas is based in Damascus, perhaps it is the capture of Assad that will stop Hamas, Hmmm?

May I be the first to propose that like the defeated Gallic King Vercingetorix, Saddam should be stripped naked, and taken to his captors' capital in a cage, executed in a public arena.

Saddam's arrest won't end resistance: Hamas

Nobody expected that simply capturing Saddam Hussein would end the resistance to change that permeates all of the Middle East Islamic world. Only a couple of generations (maybe even longer) being taught the rudiments of civility will accomplish that goal.

The doctrines that most of the Western nations pursue, i.e., individual liberty, the accumulation of wealth and wisdom, the intelligent application of all that wealth and wisdom, and honest desire to share the fruits equitably with all the sons and daughters of mankind, are entirely compatible with the stated purposes of the Islamic religion. It is time, and past time, that Muslims live up to the spirit of their own faith. They have fallen into the trap of legalistic interpretations of the letter of the passages from the Qu'ran, and lost sight of the wisdom orginally found in those beliefs.

LOL! They are not very bright are they. Like the Demorats, they have fallen into the Commander In Chief's trap like the dumb prey they are. Their statements make the linkages between themselves and other Muslim transnational terrorists so clear it will be regarded as common knowledge. Yes, the Pali terrorists will be taken care of eventually. They will end up like the Taliban and Saddam and his regime. Though I'm thinking Syria is perhaps next on the list.
