I was 5 years old, and it was the night that HBO aired her Blonde Ambition World Tour, live from Madison Square Garden. My father was never a big Madonna fan, but he taped it that night, so I got to watch it again and again. That's when it all happened. I started dressing like Madonna, memorized her song and dance steps and had her posters hanging up all around my room.Laura, thanks to her father, has developed into a world class nincompoop who now writes dribble for The Dayton Daily Worker.
Parents who allow their children to watch and listen to the anti-culture whores and what passes for modern "culture" need to have their heads examined.

You captured my thoughts exactly. What father would encourage his daughter -- at 5, no less! -- to imitate that skeezer? Perhaps this jerk had some unhealthy fantasies that involved his own child.

I think Madonna should be obscene and not heard.

There may be those who praise Madonna for her business savy and her abilitiy to reinvent herself. I just see a pathetic woman who can't figure out who the hell she is.

Madonna was hugh... she brought back the true meaning of young, white slut while the femme-nazies stood buy in shock, awe and silence. Now we finally know why women were denied the vote for so many years. HA!

Guys, give the devil her due. I don't care too much for her liberal politics or her music. But the music industry is very volatile, especially in the pop segment that's littered with flash-in-the-pans. For Madonna to last this long and still grind out hits and maintain her relevancy is amazing. My hat is (no, not THAT hat, silly!) is off to her.
To: JesseHousman
She must know something about politics since Wesley Clark is seeking her advice. (sarcasm)

I remember when she got her first hit and then her rise in popularity in the 80's when I was a teen. I said it then and I'll say it now,,,WHAT IN THE H#*& IS THE BIG DEAL ABOUT MADONNA!!!!! She's a smart business woman, but absolutely no talent.

Tiny-talented sums it up best. Madonna uses sex to cover up a lack of singing ability, but you could say that about just about any female pop star these days.

She must have driven herself to the mall in her battery-operated Barbie beach cruiser? No need, the dad or a slut mother surely helped her shop. The dad was probably irked that the thong undies didn't fit until she was 7. Oh wait a minute, I shouldn't say that. I'm presuming that Madonna actually wore undies.

Not to mention the fact that at 45 years old, if a guy saw her walking down the street in his direction, he'd be dam tempted!
Seriously, when I heard her first album, I knew she'd make it big, but what can I say, I remember Helen Reddy..., etc!

Oh, mothers thought it was cute back then. Whenever anyone had birthday parties or Halloween parties or any kind of party at all, the little girls all got dressed as Madonna. With help from their mommies. They'd take a pair of black knee-highs and put them on their daughters' tiny legs, where they looked just like thigh-high stockings.
I always thought it was weird, tarting up a seven or eight-year-old girl, but I guess it was just me...
To: JesseHousman
I wish she'd just go away. I was raising young girls in the Madonna's zenith who seemed to be constantly influenced by her. Anyway, Pop finally won out, they grew up to be fine conservative ladies.
