U.S. forces usually clear such holes with a hand grenade. And if there is a huge stockpile or ordinance buried? Not too bright, imo.

Regarding Saddam's "LAIR", I listened to some fellow on FoxNews describe a "spider hole" and your bodily functions had to be performed within such a "spider hole". And Rush Limbaugh said today there were mice in this hole. A fitting end to Saddam's last home. Please let the Iraqi folks put this man on trial and judge him. Not the "international community" nor the United Nations. Just the Iraqi people.

He probably wasn't in the hole all that long...more like a "storm" shelter just when danger was near. Most likely he stayed in the hut & used an outhouse or regular bathroom.
