I wanted to post at least eight pics honoring each service, but couldn't find many of the Coast Guard. Went to the Coast Guard's home page and found a link to photos, but you have to have a password to get into that page. So if you could find any other good CG pics, especially of them at work over in Iraq, please post them here. Thanks.

Me too, so proud. There are a bunch of great photos at the site I linked at the top of the post. I tried to select some of the best. There's also a link to the names of all our 450+ casualties in Iraq.

Thank you for your service, Lee. As I mentioned, I tried to find more CG pics. If you can find any, especially of Coast Guard over in Iraq, please post some here. I admire the Coast Guard and sometimes regret that I didn't join it rather than the Navy.

Do you know who keeps the list of all the FReepers who have family members serving overseas? I'd like to ping them to this thread to let them know we are thinking of them and their service members.

Wonderful tribute thread!

Merry Christmas to our troops at home and abroad, and especially those serving in the theater of Iraq. Our love and gratitude is immeasurable!

May God bless and protect you all. Great Job! Someday soon, may we all have peace on earth.

I'll add the CIA to the tribute as well:

Die CIA hat bereits in der Vergangheit in Afghanistan mit solchen ferngesteuerten ''Predator''-Drohnen Raketen auf mutmaßliche Stellungen der al-Qaida und der Taliban abgefeuert

Rooting out the terrorists by remote control.

Well to keep from being a hog. One more.

"We Owe You"

We owe you all, for all you do,
You risk it all each day.
We’d like to send our deepest thanks,
To you we’d like to say.
You are our bravest and our best,
We’re proud of all of you.
You serve your country selflessly,
Your country knows this too.
So know that while you’re far away,
This nation backs your fight.
With your hard work and God’s Dear Grace,
This all will come out right.
So please stay safe and do your best,
Our hearts are with you there.
We hope you know that here back home,
The people really care.

Thanks, Little did I know when I enlisted...thought the Guard would be a bit easier than the Army. Imagine my surprise when I met my new 'Daddy'! A 6'3" 200lbs+ Marine Master Sgt. I went in with 74 other recruits and ten weeks later graduated from Boot with the 46 survivors. I lasted three years untill I was injured fighting a fire on the Ohio River. Great experiences though and some of the finest people I've ever had the honor of working with. I'll see if I can find some photos. The best one's though are in my mind of the looks on people's faces when we arrived to rescue them. They called us 'shallow water sailors' but they did it with love and respect.
