I am a Conservative. Hear Me Roar!

Posted on 12/17/2003 9:21:49 PM PST by ConservativeMan55

I consider myself part of the base of the Republican party. I think everyone should own a gun. I think abortion should be outlawed, but I understand that at this point in time it will be difficult to accomplish. I think taxes should be cut, terrorists should be killed, and laws should be enforced. Government is a neccessary evil that we must deal with. It isn't my savior, and I shouldn't have to pay for it to be anyone else's either.

Cut as much government spending as possible and force each person to be responsible for themselves. Once people realize its either do or die they will start to participate in this free country. By free I don't mean free ride. You don't have to participate, but if you choose not to contribute to the economy, be prepared to be poor. I love this country, and it doesn't need to be changed. If you don't like it, then leave it.

If you have a kid you better be prepared to take care of it. It shouldn't be the rest of society's problem. It doesn't take a village. It takes a parent who gives a damn. Once you are older you should be prepared to not only raise your kids, but take care of your parents when they get older. The government should focus on delivering the mail, securing the borders, and staying out of my life. Everyone should not only be armed because of criminals, but this also prevents too much government intervention. Thats a big part of why we have the Second Amendment in the first place.

I'm tired of not being 'pandered' to. My vote should not be considered automatic by my elected officials. Even though I am part of this base I should still demand government action in my best interests. Why is it ok for Howard Dean to make up the outrageous mental institution conspiracy theories in order to rally his base, but we can't even run an ad without being called "over the edge."

If you are an elected official and you do something stupid, be prepared to be called on it. Don't try to camoflauge common sense with patriotism. I am not fooled. Campaign Finance Reform was the worst thing that we could have let happen. In effect our leaders are telling us to shut up. Government in itself is a problem. Its spinning out of control right now. Society will fall when elected officials such as Gray Davis, try to be everything to everyone.

When he ran out of people to pander to in California, he granted drivers licenses to illegal aliens so that they could vote. California failed because the so called leaders attempted to stay in power by bribing special interest groups. You see this same problem on a smaller scale all around the country in each state. The more liberalism that is inserted, the more misery and failure you see.

Schools don't need any more money. We are spending more money now on public schools than we have ever spent before, and we are educating our kids less than we ever have before.

As much as I seem to want, its mostly what I don't want that I have listed. I am very optimistic about the future of this country. I see an oppurtunity right now to crush the liberals. I see an oppurtunity to vote each and every one of them out of office. Almost every American lives their life as a Conservative. If more people were informed, then more Conservatives would be voted into office. I approach each day with a smile because I know that the only difference between a happy person and an angry person is that the angry person is angry. Everybody has problems. Its how we deal with those problems that shapes our life.

I detest vote drives. Instead, we should have information awareness drives. You shouldn't vote merely for the symbolism of voting. You should vote because you've got an issue in mind.

It won't be easy. Foreign countries are now getting in on the action, supporting Howard Dean with campaign cash. Combine that with voter fraud and his ability to lie and you have an evil entity that must be taken care of.

When you see evil you must confront it. You must defeat it. You can't get along with evil. You must erase as much of it as possible.

Count me in as one that agrees this should go to your local newspapers! Reaching out to the politically unaware voter is, IMHO, the most effective way of moving the country further to the right.

I don't see how your essay can miss making people really question where they stand on the political spectrum :-)

It's well stated, and sums up alot of ideas succinctly. I don't think it's too long, but they might edit a sentence here or there. I think it's a great article just how it is, send it to your local papers and see if they have the nerve to print it.

I like it. You hit a lot of good points.

The one paragraph I think needs a little work is the fourth one. The opening sentence, tired of not being pandered to, and the one about demanding govt action in my best interests, make you sound like you want govt to take care of you. This is not what you intend to portray.

I think you should dust it off in the morning, run through a editing session, and fire it off to your paper. Journalists do a lot of editing.

What type of journalist do you want to be?

Campaign Finance Reform was the worst thing that we could have let happen. In effect our leaders are telling us to shut up.

I don't agree with certain aspects of CFR as passed, but the way it was previously, they had already told us to shut up.....unless you're ready to open your checkbook. Access to my elected representatives should not be limited to my ability to write a check. Those SOB's better be ready to listen to me when I have a concern, money in hand or not.

I remember asking my younger co-workers what did Nixon do? None could really answer beyond, he lied.

I remember the watergate series of disclosures, every day it was something new. Then came the disclosure that every conversation had been taped by Nixon himself. On the tape he came across as a vulger man who was very suspecious of the electorate who overwhelmingly elected him. He did bring it on himself, by revealing his true personality to the voters. He could have withstood the burglery and bugging if he came clean before the world found out about the tapes. BTW, his use of the F word was much the same as Kerry, and he will be destroyed by this as well, even though the use of vulgarity is more common today, people do not want this in their leadership.

Memo to future presidents, forget the auto tape system, find a way to conduct the secret parts of the mission in secret, and have a moral compass.

did you notice the diane sawyer use of soft focus filter as they did in the old star trek series?

That's to conceal the fact that Sawyer is, like, eighty years old.

"I detest vote drives. Instead, we should have information awareness drives. You shouldn't vote merely for the symbolism of voting. You should vote because you've got an issue in mind."

Now that you mention voting, it is hard to imagine a voter being 'undeceided' weeks, even days before an election, especially a Presidential election. If you are serious about voting, you should have some opinion prior to entering a voting booth. IMHO

RE: "On the tape he [Nixon] came across as a vulger man who was very suspecious of the electorate"

I did not have the opportunity to listen to all the tapes, just what the media made available to the public. Obviously you had privileges the average American did not have.

It would indeed be surprising to learn that the man was vulgar and suspicious 24/7 thus "revealing his true personality." I don't buy it.

I shared Nixon's defensive attitude toward the liberal media then just as I scrutinize the mainstream media today. There is no question that they hated Richard Nixon then and will always despise the man.

President Bush is hated today by the very same people. As we see, getting the truth is secondary to getting the man.
