Movie star Bruce Willis is planning to honor the $1 million offer he made to the soldier who found Saddam Hussein.

The movie star visited troops in Iraq last month and promised to make the soldier who uncovered the country's former leader an overnight millionaire.

Willis is now trying to discover who he owes, and says, "It's a small price to pay. They're my heroes."

I predict no soldier will be allowed to receive this money. "They were just doing their job, sir."

I believe that since the soldier was just part of the team that found Saddam, it wouldn't justify giving him the $mill.

BUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That soldier had a hand grenade in his hand, ready to throw in, likely very concerned this could be a trap or full of bombs or terrorists waiting to return fire.

Instead of panicking, he hesitated after giving orders for the occupant(s) to come out with hands up, and Saddam came out.

For that, he deserves the $million bucks.

If he had thrown the grenade, what we would have lost is immeasurable in terms of money.

"Buy "The Whole Nine Yards". He stars in it and is the producer. A double-pay check."

Plus it's a great movie!

I was about to post word for word what you did before I read your post. I guess I'll have to modify my post:

Plus, it's a really funny movie!

He could always wait and give it to the soldier on discharge from the Army.

I agree that soldiers should (unfortunately) be ineligible for the $25 million US Government reward, because the US Government cannot be offering incentives to soldiers which could potentially interfere with command discipline and unit cohesion...

...but unless I am mistaken, I'm not certain that there's any code in the UCMJ which would prevent a soldier from accepting a private check drafted on a private bank issued by a private citizen.... even for service in the line of duty.

I'm not sure how the Military Prosecutor could charge any crime in such a case.

BLESS HIM, LORD. And draw all of them close to You.

Help him decide to bless the whole small team most fittingly involved in finally uncovering the rat.

Now there's a man who truly puts his money where his mouth is. I hope he's allowed to follow through.

Baldwin?

Did he promise to be eternally silent?

Did he promise to fly himself to the moon?

Maybe I am mixing people up. Isn't Baldwin a noisey commie RAT?

"Why should he pay if the informant was under interrogation?"

HE SAID "SOLDIER"!

I know, you've been beaten well over this already, I just thought I'd throw on another punch for good measure.

If I were Bruce Willis, I'd split it three ways with equal shares going the the two intelligence officers for 1st Brig/4th ID, Lt. Angela Santana amd Cpl. Harold Engstrom.

The Wall Street Journal had a front page article today on the efforts of these military-intelligence analysts. They spent months charting out the relationships between Sunni tribesman and Saddam. From this they identified "The Source" that yielded the location of Saddam.

Interesting factoid about Cpl. Engstrom is that he is a former teacher who joined up after 9-11.

The third person that ought to share the reward is the Task Force 2 special forces guy that found the hole.

I think they get them in all cases whenever the flick is shown and any money is collected.

Are you certain?

I'm skeptical that's accurate.

So do I...especially seeing as if the reported events are correct, they were about to leave the area and search another area when a soldier realized something amiss with a rug in the area and that was how Saddam was found.

I'll have to check tomorrow and see if this can be done legally.

I'd love to see him decide to pay each of the platoon members or whatever the small team was that did the final exposing . . . each of that team a million and everyone else a great Christmas bonus.

I suspect he could afford it.
