Oh, dear...."green" and "cabana" just don't rhyme, do they? Will work on it.

Maybe other freepers will think of some snappy names for our cabana and will post them here.

Yes, my typing skills tonight aren't the best, I'm being as clear as mud. We have the green cabana reserved for our group. The only one that is left available for rental through the cruise line is the yellow one. (Because it's the furthest away)

Wow, I decided to look at FR one more time before we went off to bed, and saw the announcement. I just woke Mike up and told him he's the winner! I guess I'll just have to talk him into letting me pick out what he wants from the shops on board. (I probably won't be successful, he's the shopper in the family!) Anyway, thanks Jim!

More info on the St. Thomas/Tortola port switch. I guess it's a good change, because I just checked with cruise ship schedule for St. Thomas, and we are now the only ship in port on our new day (Wed). The May schedule for St. Thomas is here: http://www.vinow.com/general_usvi/getting_here/Cruise-Schedule_2004/STT-May-2004.php

We are also the only ship scheduled to be on Half Moon Cay on Sunday the 23rd. We should encounter no resistance when we storm the beach!!

Found the cutest sun-dress.....Didn't think they made them any more.....Also got a new swim suit....two sizes smaller....YES!

Getting ready to go is so much fun!

Any ideas for the name of the MEAN GREEN CABANA?

There are two formal nights. The rest are informal or casual. Informal would be nice summer pants suits, strappy sun dresses, those tropical print ankle length dresses with the little slit on the side, colorful or funky costume jewelry, nice shoes.....same as eating dinner out at a very nice neighborhood restaurant at home.

Casual means nice slacks and sporty but classy tops, casual summer pants suits, neat sandals or flats.

Never, ever, on ANY night wear T-shirts, tank tops, shorts, cut-offs, jeans, icky sneakers, thong flip-flops.....you get the message.

I just KNEW someone would ask about capris. I have no idea, and it will be wearer's choice.

The newsletter slipped under your door every morning will state what the evening's dress schtick is.

Yet more cabana info, right from the horse's mouth (on another website):
Just came off of the Zuiderdam 4/24 sailing.

We had the new orange cabana on HMC. I went and looked at every cabana and have pictures of each individual one. (I will post them later today). The cabanas go in this order from closest to the dock:
Tan, Blue, Orange, Purple, Pink, Green, Yellow.

The Blue is NOT really close to the sports rental hut. It is far from it in fact. The Orange is the best one to have in my opinion. First, it is new. A/C was very cold, fridge was ice cold, misters were new and working. It is the closest to the food pavillion, bars, and close to the bathrooms. The Blue is actually slightly closer to the bathrooms. The new Tan cabana is now actually near the most traffic because it is the closest to the massage hut. But in reality, there is not really any big amount of traffic around it. Most people walk on the path behind it or closer to the water line.

In my opinion, the purple is the one NOT to choose. It has tarp (roll-up) sides, which I could deal with, but it is the only cabana with NO MISTERS!! The misters put a fine spray of water on you while you lay on your lounge chairs in the cabana - they are fantastic! They are in every cabana except the purple.

The Orange cabana was great and I would spend the money again in a minute! Also, we did not get butler service, but we had two cabana boys assigned to our cabana who got all of our drinks, food, sports equipment, etc.

***Also, there is a bar special on HMC. You can purchase a drink card that allows you all of the soda, water, beer and rum punch that you want for the day on HMC. It is $20.00 per card (p/p) and $15.00 p/p if you have rented a cabana. We did purchse one of these for $15.00 and it was well worth it!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The drink cards sound wonderful, a lot better than spending $45 per person to add more to the cabana rental. I can almost taste the rum punch now....
And, what was that about a Massage Hut?? This beach party just keeps getting better and better!!
ATTENTION, CRUISERS:
Don't forget to refer to the Bahama Mama Q & A thread for continual info on the cruise. Also, if you haven't already, scan the whole thread and make notes of things required (proper personal ID, for instance) plus things for your to-do list, and things to bring or not bring.
Post any questions on that thread. Bahama Mama is quick to answer.
Here is a link to cabana pictures on Half Moon Cay, someone who was just there took a picture of every one, so we can finally see what they look like!
I wanna go back to muh lil' green shack in the Ba-ham-aahs
Back with all the lovin' freepers that I met so long ago
I can see our Hoosiermama swayin' on the beach at Half Moon Cay
I can hear a guitar plunking on the porch by ole Bob J
I can't wait until the date our ship sails to Half Moon Cay
It's a paradise that's ours, all ours, on a merry day in May
We'll see the steel drums playin' as we sit upon the strand
And hear Diotima singing' to the rhythm of the band
I wanna go back to muh lil' green shack in the Bah-ham-aahs
To see Mike and Jan's cabana by the shore
Where we freepers will assemble with our glasses raised on high
Where we'll raise a toast to W and to our troops at war
I wanna go back to muh lil' green shack in the Bah-ham-aahs
Where the humuhumunukuapuaa goes swimming by
Where the humuhumunukuapuaa goes swimming by
Where the humuhumyunukuapuaa goes......
Attencion, Amigos y Amigas:
This notice is for the early-birds staying at the Comfort Inn the night before embarkation.
Diotima will be den mother for Friday night and Saturday morning to make sure everything goes smoothly, that y' all find each other in the motel on Friday evening, and that y'all get to the port on time on Saturday morning via the motel's vans.
Thanks, Dio, for the helping hand.
Bahama Mama is taking the Holland America courtesy bus from the Gulf coast directly to the port on Saturday morning. I'll be seeing you in the terminal waiting room or on the Lido Deck for lunch if the bus is late, perish forbid.
Bahama Mama
