“Do you think we could get a table by the water?” Joyce asked politely when she phoned downstairs for reservations at Swan Court, a restaurant at the Hyatt Regency on Maui that is ranked as one of the most romantic dining spots in the world.

the getaway trip to fortify a couple for all the ups and downs ahead

I didn't know that was why people had honeymoons.

They had lived together for 18 years. A "honeymoon"?

What a bunch of crap! False. Phoney. Silly. Try as they might, they are NOT the same. Sorry. It is not about attitudes, it is all about Men and Women. Men and Women's bodies were made to fit together so that they can have children. They get married so that their offspring can have a home. Children need mothers AND fathers...two parents. That is the way nature made it. Mess with nature and you have a mess!

How wonderful for once to feel in sync with a supportive tradition.

In the tradition of Soddom & Ghomorrah anyway........

From Monty Python's "Life Of Brian"

Reg: Furthermore, it is the birthright of every man...
Stan: Or woman.
Reg: Why don't you shut up about women, Stan? You're putting us off.
Stan: Women have a perfect right to play a part in our movement, Reg.
Francis: Why are you always on about women, Stan?
Stan: I want to be one.
Reg: What?
Stan: I want to be a woman. From now on, I want you all to call me Loretta.
Reg: What?!
Stan: It's my right as a man.
Judith: Why do you want to be Loretta, Stan?
Stan: I want to have babies.
Reg: You want to have babies?!
Stan: It's every man's right to have babies if he wants them.
Reg: But, you can't have babies.
Stan: Don't you oppress me!
Reg: I'm not oppressing you, Stan. You haven't got a womb. Where's the fetus gonna to gestate? You gonna keep it in a box?
Judith: Here, I've got an idea. Suppose we agree that he can't actually have babies, not having a womb, which is nobody's fault, not even the Romans, but that he can have the right to have babies.
Francis: Good idea, Judith. We shall fight the oppressors for you right to have babies, brother... sister, sorry.
Reg: What's the point?
Francis: What?
Reg: What's the point of fighting for his right to have babies when he can't have babies?
Francis: It's symbolic of our struggle against oppression.
Reg: It's symbolic of his struggle against reality.

“Oh, but I see you’re honeymooners. I’ll make sure the maitre d’ knows.”

From now on I'm traveling with an Irish Setter. We will be claiming "honeymooners" on all documentation too. Wow, no rules is great!

"Unbelievable what these rags sheets can publish....Truely sickening!"

Homosexual influence within the printed media is part of how they've gotten as far as they have. The newspapers, T.V. and Hollywood lend credibility to the homosexual lifestyle each time they print a cutesy story about them or include them into their cast of characters as being just 'normal' folks amongst us. There are two worlds out there, the real one and the one that the media have constructed all around us. Unfortunately, because of the saturation most Americans can't differentiate between them anymore, and they trust that what they see and read, no matter how contrived, must be "real".

If the media, t.v. and Hollywood portrayed homosexuals as what they really are, twisted, hateful perverts, then that's what they'd become. Funny how that works.

I could not agree more!

So this drive to allow them to obtain medical benefits thus driving up the costs of my healthcare NOT ON MY DIME THEY WON'T!!!!

See this is what printed media fails to print. That homosexual men can have complications as it pertains to fecal matter entering somewhere it shouldn't when they engage in consensual sex. Because of this said parties have to go to the doctor because of infection. In turn this drive up MY HEALTHCARE COSTS because some states allow it!

GARBAGE! But if you were to say ANYTHING about it homosexual advocacy groups would label you a homophobe to silence your message. Wonderful how this works. Na I'm not a homophobe, I am a person sick and tired of MY TAX dollars going to support their sick activities!

I'm old enough to remember when the Detroit News was a great newspaper. Not on the level of the Wall Street Journal, or the Washington Times, but still more balanced on the conservative side of the ledger. Today's edition featured an apologist article about the crapper eminem as well as a number of letters supporting the News' editorial support of Governor Mulhern's drive for higher taxes.

I had never heard of Deb Price until I subscribed to the Tennessean (Nashville); I have read every one of her columns in there just as I read the unfunny comics section and she never writes about anything but "gay issues," I think she is a very clever businessman.

Deb Price's column runs in the Olympian (Olympia, WA), so I have been familiar with it for quite some time. Yes, she writes about gay issues, but there are columnists who write about black issues, women's issues, and even conservative issues. That's what an editorial page is for.

Anyone here who opposes gay marriage is going to have to come up with something besides bible thumping to counter the warm-and-fuzzies that readers of this column are going to feel when reading it. There is a difference in heterosexual couples between just living together, and being married, otherwise, we wouldn't prefer the latter. There is a societal acceptance of a married couple that the unmarried just don't participate in, and gay couples are challenging society to give them that. Liberal America has long been waiting to do this, and Middle America is being courted. Lists of diseases threatening the promiscuous of all orientations are not going to overcome the appeal to Middle America's sense of justice on this.

My point is, right now, gays are making the stronger case in the media. Yes, conservatives are rallying their own troops, and pushing up the periphery of their poll numbers on the issue, but the gay side is fighting back, and Price's column is one salvo in the battle. If, indeed, gay marriage becomes the issue in next year's election, rather than national defense or the economy, then Rats and their liberal media supporters have an issue to demonize the Republicans on.

It reminds me of when Joyce and I went to an outdoor movie theater with folding chairs on the tiny Greek island of Paros

I think they were on the wrong Greek island!
