WASHINGTON — Alarming messages published on known Al Qaeda (search) Web sites are claiming the terror network is about to launch its biggest strikes ever - and are warning Muslims to leave the cities of New York, Washington and Los Angeles.

These warnings probably mean attempts will be made elsewhere, with the focus of protection being these three cities. I'd watch Miami, Atlanta and Dallas, or comparable urban centers.

A largish [really large actually] freighter took off overhead last night, company logo on the tail lighted like another moon in the sky. Heavy airplane shaking the air even if the muffled engines were throttled back per regulation, lumbering off into the sky destined who knows where intercontinental. Just topped off with that good refined Prudhoe Bay product. Don't worry, good hands, etc. Think about 1/2 million pounds passing right overhead above the house though.

The jihadi Daweel has been posting on one of the boards and uses the string 19/19/19/23 in his signature. Some were speculating yesterday (on the the 23rd) that this referred to 19:19:19 GMT Dec 23. But obviously nothing happened then.

There was other speculation that tomorrow's conjunction of the moon and Venus has some potential significance to Islamists, but that again doesn't occur at 19:19:19 at GMT or any other time zone (I've forgotten the exact time). Nor does this planetary conjunction occur in the 19th or 23rd degree of anything.

I also checked the Muslim calendar and today is the 1st day of the 12th month (not the 19th day or 23rd day), so that doesn't seem to be it. It's not even the 19th or 23rd day after Ramaddan or Eid-al-whatever.

But these number 19 and 23 may perhaps have some bearing on whatever the Islamists are thinking.

And then again maybe not. I decided that crossword puzzles were more entertaining than decoding jihadi superstition.

We need to think like terorists in targets and methods. Be watchful and be armed pursuant to our 2nd/14th Amendments.

I personally look for an airline pilot to fly "off course" towards a high value target. He either hits the target or is shot down by blood thirsty, "trigger happy" Americans, according to All Jazz Era and each muslim nations' official newspapers and e-media.

Either way, we can experience one or more 747 with freight or ~400 innocents crash into a nuclear power plant, airport, congested highway, stadium, Capitol, super mall, or downtown OR be shot out of the sky into whatever is below. An Airbus or 747 would be a bit difficult to instantly knock out of the sky because it is so large; seconds would count like little else.

At "heavy" vectoring speeds - ~5+/- miles per minute, we can not likely respond in time to prevent the chosen target's successful destruction with at least a near miss.

Since an Egyptian pilot crashed into the Atlantic for Allah, striking at the Great Satan is easy in this islist Terror War.

The statements monitored by U.S. government agencies, as well as by a Washington-based terrorist research group, are part of the alarming increase in "chatter" (search) among terrorist operatives in recent weeks that played a role in the Bush administration's decision to raise the nation's threat alert to high (orange).

Counterterrorism expert Rita Katz, director of the SITE Institute, said her organization has recently found and translated statements on Al Qaeda Web site Al-Lewa - Arabic for "The Banner" - that are promising new attacks on U.S. soil in the coming weeks.

Katz said a posting two weeks ago quoted an Al Qaeda spokesman identified as Abu Issam al-Yamani as saying, "The next Al Qaeda attacks will be most violent and will target the U.S." and urged Muslims "to leave the country if they don't wish to die as a result of a Jihadist operation."

A second message was posted on the same Web site last Thursday, from a group calling itself the Islamic Bayan Movement.

"Our Muslim brothers in America, this is our final warning. We ask you, as fast as you can, to leave the following cities immediately: Washington D.C., New York City, Los Angeles," the message said.

Katz said she noticed Al Qaeda's stepped-up cyber propaganda began Nov. 15 after the terror bombings in Istanbul, Turkey when a known Al Qaeda group warned in a communiqué that the "death cars will not stop."

Katz said the electronic vitriol has continued almost daily, and just last night a message was published in which Al Qaeda's mouthpiece, the Global Islamic Media Society, took delight that Americans are now "living in a state of anxiety and constant fear."

It ended with, "You will forget about Manhattan events. Be prepared."

U.S. government officials say it is impossible to determine whether the message writers may be involved in plotting attacks

But these officials told The Post last night that the CIA, FBI and National Security Agency consider the messages "pieces of the overall puzzle."
