Anthrax Terror [CIA Building Case 2001 Anthrax Attacks were Terrorism]

The CIA has been quietly building a case that the anthrax attacks of 2001 were in fact the result of an international terrorist plot.

U.S. officials with access to intelligence reports tell us the information showing a terrorist link to the anthrax-filled letters sent by mail in the weeks after the September 11 terrorist attacks is not conclusive. But it is persuasive.

I don't know about anyone else but can't remember ever seeing the BROKAW ANTHRAX LETTER with "unthinkabel" or Russian quotes?

The letter with "unthinkabel" in it is supposed to have been a dummy or hoax letter sent to the same recipient as the real anthrax letter.

Late last night I started thinking that we may be looking at a bio attack. Airlines, malls and stadiums seem to be the three areas the FBI is looking at closely. All three are perfect spots for the release of disease or spores.

I don't think this article is particluarly informative...except to signal a contrary article will soon appear in Newsweek, WashPost or NYTimes attributing the idea to "neo-cons". Maybe we'll bet some vague, recycled damnations about a Prague meeting too...

Latest National Enquirer...for what it's worth...

"...Saddam's favorite movie star was Jennifer Lopez. He had sick fantasies of J.Lo and constantly talked about her and what he would like to do with her, says a source. He measure his women's backsides by how they comparted to J.Lo's. Thoughout his palaces were J.Lo videos, CDs, and movies. But one of the most bizarre things we found in those palaces were pictures of J.Lo ripped straight out of magazines and framed. IN on palace, a life-sized cutout of the singer was found in one of his bedrooms..."

Of course the letters were from Islamic terrorists, and they were almost certainly from a foreign country. The letters themselves spell it out about as plainly as humanly possible. Anyone who would believe otherwise is either an idiot or a virulent America-hating

If those letters were sent by Islamic terrorists, why did they send them--what did they expect those letters to accomplish?

Well, there must be a reason that somebody connected with the CIA is choosing to leak this now.

Yesterdays Hawaii vs Houston football game had 'a high level of security'. The papers said 25,000 plus attended, TV news said the parking lot had empty slots.

One(air-head) girl interviewed said - re: the security - can't we all just be happy, this is a happy time, we have to get along, noone will try to hurt us during Christmas ------

"Of course the letters were from Islamic terrorists, and they were almost certainly from a foreign country. The letters themselves spell it out about as plainly as humanly possible. Anyone who would believe otherwise is either an idiot or a virulent America-hating liberal."

Interesting--I believe the anthrax was not sent by foreign terror groups for the exact same reason. The letters are too obvious--it's more like a case of misdirection. If you look at what happened, the letters caused a minimal loss of life, and caused a great deal of reaction on our part. We are now better prepared to deal with this type of attack than we were before. When was the last time Al Qaeda put safeguards on its attacks to REDUCE the loss of life? Never. The letters (a) told people it was anthrax, (b) told them what to take (admittedly, not the best choice, but still) (c) were taped to reduce the chance that spores would be released prior to being opened, (d) were folded with a "pharmaceutical fold," also to reduce chance of spores being released. The early warning, the prescriped antidote, and the precautions--none of these are Al Qaeda calling cards. They strike with an attempt to cause the most damage possible. The person who used this anthrax could have killed thousands, but did not. Why?

The stands looked pretty empty.

One of the on-air people mentioned that the FBI had sent a team of snipers to the stadium.

The leasing agent (Bob Stevens wife) for Atta and partner's condo has always been too coinicdental for me. That the first letter would be mailed to him and kill him is just too suspicious. Add in Atta's visit to the pharmacy with a red rash on his hands just days before he left for his deadly mission is another too coincidental thing. I still believe they were responsible and probably had someone else mail the letters.

...as if they suspect there is more coming soon...

An early story during the lead-up to the current orange alert suggested the possibility of an anthrax attack. From Northeast Intelligence Network, Dec. 8, 2003 [I have no idea how reliable or authoritative this is; I'm just repeating something I found in a web search, since it might be of interest -- but note that we've heard much of the rest of this since then, from other sources]:

Nuclear, Bio, Chemical Weapons Threat Against US

Fed Source Calls Threat "Credible"

8 December 2003-- Communications found on a elusive jihad web site suggests attacks against New York City, Washington and Las Vegas in the US, and London in the UK. A detailed communications suggesting the spread of weaponized anthrax in New York through disbursement from the air (skyscraper) and the placement of "dirty bombs" in New York and the other cities mentioned were furnished to federal authorities. The federal contact termed the threat "credible" and stated that various other foreign intelligence agencies identified the same or similar communications and reported the same to DHS authorities. No specific information concerning the timing of this event was found.

Note to the reader: this information was obtained from raw intelligence data and it's legitimacy has not been fully confirmed. The purpose of posting this information/advisory is simply to inform the reader of the current content of terrorist communications. Developing --Jill St. Claire

Does anybody know anything about this Northeast Intelligence Network or Jill St. Claire?

To me, it was pretty plainly a desperate attempt to try to intimidate us into not responding militarily to 9/11.

A few problems with that info: "The leasing agent (Bob Stevens wife) for Atta and partner's condo has always been too coinicdental for me. That the first letter would be mailed to him and kill him is just too suspicious."

The letter was actually mailed to the National Enquirer, but was mailed to the address they hadn't occupied for a year. Stevens just happened to come into contact with it. It wasn't mailed to him, or to his employer. Sometimes a coincidence is just a coincidence.

"Add in Atta's visit to the pharmacy with a red rash on his hands just days before he left for his deadly mission is another too coincidental thing. I still believe they were responsible and probably had someone else mail the letters."

First of all, it wasn't Atta. Second of all, it was a lesion on his leg. Thirdly, the doctor who thinks it might have been anthrax recalled it months later, and most experts doubt, from his description, that it was anthrax. (Not to mention that if someone was working with weaponized anthrax, why the heck would they go to a doctor, who would diagnose it immediately??)

The leasing agent was not Bob Stevens' wife. She was Gloria Irish, the wife of Sun editor Michael Irish.
