Limbaugh lurches to the left
St Peterburg's Times ^ | December 29, 2003

Posted on 12/29/2003 6:17:39 AM PST by Alissa

Didn't Rush Limbaugh used to be pro-law and order?

Now that the once conservative commentator finds himself on the wrong side of a police investigation, he and his lawyers are accusing prosecutors and other members of the law enforcement community of concocting a vast, politically motivated conspiracy against him.

Not even the most linguini-spined liberal would have the gall to spew such irresponsible nonsense.

Limbaugh recently completed treatment for an acknowledged addiction to prescription drugs, and Florida prosecutors are investigating evidence that he may have broken the law by going "doctor shopping" to acquire his massive supplies of OxyContin and other painkillers.

A West Palm Beach judge ruled last week that prosecutors had established sufficient cause to examine Limbaugh's medical records, but Limbaugh's lawyers succeeded in getting the records resealed while they appeal the decision.

Either way, the judge and prosecutors have agreed that Limbaugh's medical records will not be made public. By all accounts, police, prosecutors and the courts have have taken great pains to protect Limbaugh's civil rights.

But Limbaugh claims that his problems stem from a massive conspiracy on the part of his political enemies in law enforcement.

"The Democrats still cannot defeat me in the arena of political ideas," Limbaugh said on his Tuesday radio show. "And so now they are trying to do so in the court of public opinion and the legal system."

Limbaugh used to defend the legal system - and he used to ridicule citizens who claimed that their constitutional rights had been violated by police and prosecutors. But now Limbaugh, who is fortunate enough to be able to afford the representation of celebrity attorney Roy Black and a team of defense lawyers, has joined the conspiracy nuts.

The people who have been hunting for someone to host a new left-wing radio talk show may have found their man.

Oh, no, liberals never spew such nonsense. Hillary never claimed there was a vast right wing conspiracy committed to taking down her husband, the treasonous liar.

Dems would be well within their rights to go after gusto against Rush... within certain sane limits.

Giving immunity to drug pushers in order to nail a drug user is NOT within sane parameters. That's bloody unheard of. It's not their -intent- to nail Rush that's "politically motivated" (that would be understandable), it's their willingness to employ overwhelmingly unusual and obviously partisan methods to do so.

It seems that all elitists, on both sides of the aisle, only truly become anti-tyranny when it is their own ass that is put in the sling and they see what the common folk have to put up from the government every single day.

What hypocritical mindless whinning drivel from the left....if it is a LIBERAL who is the addict, they praise the "courage" of the addict as he enters rehab for the 15th time...if it is a conservative who ADMITTS to being addicted and blames NO ONE BUT HIMSELF, and THEN points out that there IS some politcal motivation behind HOW the authorities are handling his case (EVEN THE ACLU ACKNOWLEDGES that RUSH's privacy rights are being trampled on), then the left begins to HOWL and point fingers....

The left is the home of HATE and hypocrisy.

If they're going to go after Rush, they should also go after Hollywood actors and actresses. The only place we hear much about their addictions is on episodes of "Where are they now?".

I guess Bill Clinton is a worse than the most linguini-spined liberal. Didn't bill clinton trash the Special Prosecutor over Monica? Didn't bill clinton trash the Prosecutors over Paula?

In fact Bill Clinton trashed ever prosecutor that tried to get evidence against him and claimed that it was all a plot to tag the innocent Bill with with lies. At least until the DNA proved it was true.

I am glad to see the St. Petersburg Times agrees that Bill Clinton is the most linguini-spined liberal of them all.

Please tell me how often it is that drug dealers and extortionists are given complete immunity in order to incarcerate the "common folk" drug users and extortion victims.

THAT'S the issue. The methods, not the fact that they want to nail him. The "common folk" would get that kind of treatment. I don't believe elites should get favorable treatment, but neither should they get screwed even harder. Rush should be getting -equal- treatment under the law, and that ain't happening.

I say this as someone who has very rarely listened to Rush and while my feelings about him are generally positive, I am far far far from being a dittohead.

Oh but you seem to forget the government's 'guilty and never proven innocent' attitude in the hundreds of botched drugs raids on wrong houses commited every year. Or let's also not forget get how abused the RIOC act has been used in that even if you are proven innocent in a court of law by a jury, that the government can still keep all the assets it has seized from you WITHOUT any compensation what so ever.

Begin is on you pro-statist, I can do this all day long.
