It’s the start of a New Year, and with that I’d like to give you all my New Year’s Resolutions with respect to Free Republic. Are there any New Year’s Resolutions you’d like to make for the benefit of FR? Some examples that come to mind are, fewer personal attacks. Debate the message, don’t personally attack the poster. Maybe your resolution will be to post fewer vanities, or to post vanities to chat. Another resolution might be to search prior to posting threads. Whatever you might strive to do for Free Republic, let us know. Maybe you’d like to make amends with a certain poster. Give it a shot.

My personal New Year's Resolution to Free Republic:

I’d like to be better at answering your questions via mail and pings. We do get busy, and sometimes your questions get lost in the sheer volume. So, I’ll resolve to try better to answer your inquiries. If you don’t get an answer in a day or two, please ask again.

Happy New Year, Free Republic! It’s going to be a fun year!

Thank you, that was my first. BUT I DID NOT GET A PING and I did not get to see the VIKING KITTIES. I want a good old fashion ZOT, not some lame 2 minute time out ZOT.

Change the Admin Moderator. He does not know how to ZOT good.

The Lead Moderator is all of our 'boss'. He has more powers than the AM's or SM's

The AM's are next in power and can 'nuke' a poster. A nuke will wipe out the poster's account and all of his replies. The AM's have some other tools that SM's don't have.

Sidebar Moderators are low man on the totem pole. We can move threads in and out of the sidebars, in and out of forums, delete and restore threads and we can ban people. We just cannot nuke a poster.

Jim has some additional powers that none of us have, and John writes the code, so he's omnipotent.

We're not totally sure how we were selected to be mods. I think I'm safe in saying we were all selected.

Whatever you might strive to do for Free Republic, let us know.

My goal for the year, as it's always been, is to be able to convince at least one person of my position on something, who starts off strongly disagreeing with me. Nobody has to be afraid to admit it, since I'm not going to do anything like go "Yes! Yes! In your FACE!" or anything stupid like that. Likewise, I'll admit when my position is wrong (and have done so). I like to know what works and what doesn't work at convincing people.

Beyond that, it's hard to tell what I need improvement on, since we obviously see ourselves in a different light than everyone else sees us. So I'm open, here on this thread, to any constructive suggestions from those who've interacted with me or lurked on my posts in the past.

I'm sorry. I'll behave for a bit.

I don't know if it's the same list or seperate. Personally, I LOVE the ZOT ones...it's fun to pick on the trolls.
