Stealth Aircraft - Rose Bowl - Flyby Photo
Yahoo!News ^ | Jan. 1, 2004 | AP Photo / Chris Carlson

Posted on 01/02/2004 11:20:29 AM PST by rm3friskerFTN

Yesterday there was mention that several US Air Force Stealth Aircraft were going to overfly the Rose Bowl.

Today I searched for photos of this event, finding several.

HOWEVER, in my humble opinion (grin ;-) I think the below photo is the best of the few I found of the stealth overfly event.

Please visit Yahoo!News - Sports Photos - AP to freep/vote for this photo to number one status ... Yahoo login required though :-(

Stealth fighters and a bomber fly over the stadium during opening ceremonies at the start of the Michigan-USC showdown in the 90th Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004.

BTW ... do any LA Freepers have any photos of the stealth overfly event they would like to share???

They did a fly over as well during the Rose parade as the USAF Band was playing.

The other looks like an Eagle.

That was my first thought as well. The front end looks like an FA-18 but the large elevons look like those on an F-15.

In the last game of the 2001 World Series in Phoenix I had the thrill of standing outside as the stealth bomber came low over my house about 6 miles straight north of Bank One Ballpark. I still cry when I think of the feeling it gave me. What a sight!!!

No wonder everyone else hates us, that picture contains more asset value than all of Central America. :)

I thought Stealth aircraft were supposed to be invisible? ;-)

They are only invisible to Radar. And hard to see at night. Img srce="Http://www.bestcareanywhere.net/radar1.jpg">

Thanks for the picture. i know very little about military aircraft but have seen a F-117A in the air. What struck me when i watched the footage was how BIG the B2 is. Incredible.

difficult it is to take photos of STEALTH aircraft

Here's one taken thru a night vison camera which makes it look fake.

Thanks so much for the pictures. When these three aircraft flew over the parade, the announcers were almost as thrilled as I was. No joke, they were almost speechless..totally awed. It took my breath away to see them on television, I can't imagine how exciting it was to witness their flight live.

They actually made two parade fly bys. A surprise when they flew over the firsst time, but when they came back, the crowds...and everyone in my house...was cheering. When they flew over the parade the second time, the float honoring Bob Hope was spotlighted. Even the announcers noticed how appropriate that was.

You should see the DUers talking about how offensive these "machines of death" are. They are even outraged at the presence of military bands in the parade!

No they're not. They're offended that they don't control them.

"Those are our planes now." -Ron Silver, thinking to himself at the first Clinton Inauguration after first being offended by the military jets flying overhead, January 20, 1993

Ron is one of the lucky ones. He woke up after 9/11.
