Al-Jazeera television is broadcasting what is said to be a new audio tape of Osama bin Laden.

It is claimed he will refer to the capture of ex-Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.

"The audiotape contains new things. It refers to the Geneva Initiative (an unofficial Israeli-Palestinian peace plan unveiled in early December) and the capture of Saddam Hussein on December 13," al-Jazeera editor Ibrahim Hilal said.

Hilal said the voice purported to be that of bin Laden will also refer to the "(US) crusade against the Islamic world."

Early translations indicated that bin Laden called on Muslims to fight Western troops in Iraq with weapons rather than dialogue.

He also condemned Gulf states which supported the invasion of Iraq.

I guess the camcorder battery died and won't take a recharge. That happened to my cellphone once, so I can understand now why they're not showing videotapes of OBL.

Or maybe he's worm castings in some Afghan cave and the whole Osama audiotape industry is a scam.

Checking the Al JERKZera website for info yet but just a scrolling headline from them. I am assuming they are still translating the tape.

The timing is interesting to me. I've read several references in recent days to the claim by AQ that Bin Laden will not release another tape until after a spectacular attack against us. Was that in reference to a video, I wonder, or any type of tape?

Anyway, I wonder if the tape was given to AJ at some earlier time with the instructions to release it after the holiday season with the idea that it would be released after a successful attack.

well, it depends what kind of attack you are looking for. they likely have lots of plans, its just a question as to whether they can execute them.

why don't we send a couple B-1's with F-15 escorts and just take out Al-Jazeera TV ... put them outta commission permanently ...

then have a Psy-ops C-130 broadcast some "Gilligan's Island" and "Star Trek" (TOS!) and NFL football 24 hours per day ...

oh and some Weird Al videos ... give these people something different on their TV channels other than hate, hate, hate, hate, hate ...
