Gov. Jennifer Granholm?s lengthy, taped, year-end ?Off the Record? interview with veteran Lansing reporter Tim Skubick was scheduled to be shown today at 11:30 a.m. on WTVS-Channel 56 in Detroit, and on assorted other public TV outlets across the state. You can click on the Internet at http://wkar.org/offtherecord/ to see it.

What a stupid name for a broadcast interview, "Off the Record." Obviously it isn't.

Skubick calls the interview ?routine.? But when he asked Granholm if she found it ?interesting? that some ?so-called Christians? preferred to cut money from some social services rather than yield on the $77 million state income tax cut that was scheduled for Jan. 1 and delayed in an uneasy compromise until July 1, Granholm uncharacteristically picked up the Bible and gave it a thump.

Citing "those who cloak themselves in a cape of religiosity" as some of "the biggest cutters," Granholm quotes chapter and verse where the Lord says, "Whatsoever you do to the least of these, so also you do unto me."

But not the unborn who cannot even speak in their own defense...

Jesus said "whatever YOU do", not "whatever the government does", or "whatever Rome does". The Bible puts the responsibility on the individual, not the State.

THANK YOU!

I always give Granholm credit for being a fabulous babe, but this is one of the ugliest things I have ever heard any high-ranking official say.

I don't have time to go into how tortured her citation is in reference to social spending by government, but it just kills me that someone who rode into office by rejecting her own supposed religious beliefs for political expediency can condemn her opponents for allegedly doing the exact same thing!

Can't recall anywhere in the Gospels where Our Lord demands that taxes be levied for redistribution by a government bureaucracy.

Jesus did say render unto Caeser what is Caeser's and render unto the Lord what is the Lord's.

Gronholm though does not seem to want to render unto the Lord what is His i.e. His right to determine when someone is alive and, the appointed days of that persons life.

netmils, this woman (granholm) is certifiable. I work for the state(michigan), and in the midst of recent budget cuts, layoffs and downsizing , she spent something like 5 to 10 million for a "stress reduction and healthier living" seminar for every employee in My department. It was instantly dubbed "don't worry , be happy" training by the staff. It was particularly galling to those of us who had to take pay cuts or grant contract concessions shortly before this. This training was preceded by a half hour taped address by Mz. Granholm who proceeded to blow sunshine up our butts . The address was full of liberalspeak buzzwords like "empowerment" "diversity", "shared vision", etc.and ended with Her saying that she wanted the state to be such a happy, well run place that other states would have (and I kid you not) "mitten envy" . had I been drinking My morning coffee whilst hearing this it most certainly have come shooting out my nose, so strong was my reaction. But My reaction would've gone unnoticed because all of a sudden the room sounded like the waiting lounge at a tourettes clinic. Apparently I wasn't the only one in the room whose b.s.'ometer pegged on that comment. I have spoken to both repubs and dems whom I work with and there is a consensus forming: this dame is a one- termer

Slainte,

CC

If Coweird Dean can move the Book of Job to the New Testament, Granholm can change the words of Jesus.

The left has no compunction whatsoever of misrepresenting even the Bible for their own purposes.

Talk about a small world...

My husband works for the State of Michigan too as a Trainer/Consultant and was also forced to endure the "Mitten Envy" speech. He told me about it and I posted it here some time ago. The woman is a total nitwit. Most state employees were hoping she'd fall off Big Mac during her Labor Day walk (which she ran, contrary to rules).

Jesus did not oppose paying taxes, correct.

My point is that Jesus never advocated collecting taxes.
