Yawn. Why give so much unmerited attention to something so insignificant?
The failure to uphold public morality is not insignificant, and neither are its repercussions.

What is the big desire for same sex marriage? Is it so that they won't be "living in sin" unmarried in the eyes of God and their families?
As if "marriage" makes it okay?

There are valid reasons why most folks and modern society itself, continue to condemn homosexuality. Marriage is meant for man and woman. If homosexuals want to be joined in a civil union, let`em get a lawyer to draw up a legal contract. Continuing to advance the idea of homosexual marriage will only weaken another bedrock principle of society and lead to further moral degradation. Looks like the militant gay agenda marches on.

What conjecture? The US *has* become Sodom, a lawless, amoral, indecent society completely lacking in self control. Some places just appear to be more civilized and decent than others - for the moment - but the core is nonetheless decayed, and the stench has reached to heaven.
All manner of perversion is tolerated, and where wickedness is more brazen, these behaviours are openly celebrated. Freedom to act in a depraved manner is not freedom, it is slavery of the soul to Satan. For a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him. The writing is on the wall. For those who see it, flee before it's too late. Time is short.
Ezekiel 16:49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, PRIDE!, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
Helllllo!

"Flee" where? And from where? I don't know if your post is serious or designed to mock. It does not matter. I will answer it in good faith:
As the Lord leads from where you are at. Ask Him. Hear and then obey His voice. First order, though, is that for whatever you do or did that you know is/was wrong, repent. God cannot be mocked: He knows who is sincere and who isn't.

I don't know if your post is serious or designed to mock. No, it was quite serious. You recommended in your post that people should "flee"; I merely asked to where you think we should flee. In every measurable way, America is the greatest country and society that has ever been on the planet. This is as good as it gets.
As the Lord leads from where you are at. Ask Him. Hear and then obey His voice.
I do try, every day.
First order, though, is that for whatever you do or did that you know is/was wrong, repent. God cannot be mocked: He knows who is sincere and who isn't.
Then I guess I'll find out if my efforts to live a life worthy of His teachings were enough in 30 or so years. I also feel that's between me and Him.
Which brings me back to that "flee"-ing thing. I don't have the type of personality that allows me to simply run away from things I disagree with. I have an almost pathological need to try to change things I feel to be wrong, whether through the ballot box, letters to the editor, my purchasing habits, by posting to FreeRepublic, and by whatever legal means are at my disposal.
However, at the same time, I learned to choose my battles carefully and not to expend resources needlessly on things (or people) which can do no harm to me. And, getting overwrought over an announcement in a newspaper seems to me to fall within that category. To put it in a nutshell, there are far greater evils in the world than an announcement in a newspaper about two men who live together, and I prefer to expend my limited resources to combat things that could more directly affect or harm me.
Thank you for your concern.

The links to the article are no longer working.
Did the paper pull it, or did they change the URL because they were being heavily FReeped?
Do you have a working link?
Enquiring minds want to know.

I wish I could have put it that succintly. Frankly, I don't deal well with some people here, those who seem to see revelatory messages in their alphabet soup.

Well, shoot. I typed a response to your post but it disappeared. FreeRepublic is apparently having problems. I'll try again later.
