An amusing aspect of the UAE ports deal controversy has been watching the Democrats try to get to the right of Republicans on national security. They have a big problem with this latest cynical ploy, because at the same time as they’re castigating the Bush administration for not securing ports, the Dems and “progressives” are doing everything in their power to subvert and delegitimize one of the most effective national security measures put in place after 9/11—the NSA’s surveillance of terrorist suspects in the US. How do they reconcile these two diametrically opposed positions? Well, they just... don’t.
Today the Washington Post has an article about the latest kerfuffle, as a Saudi terror financing group complains they were spied upon: Saudi Group Alleges Wiretapping by US.
This shows how far we’ve come from 9/11, that a group of terror-linked Islamists would actually play for sympathy because their dirty business was exposed. And it shows once again that the enemy understands very well how to exploit American freedoms to hide among us.

Toronto Supports Denmark
As Torontonians we are citizens of our nation’s largest and most multiethnic city. That people of so varied cultures can coexist not merely in tolerance, but in a spirit of mutual respect where all are free to practice their customs without imposition on others, is a testament to the strengths of free expression and secularism. We cannot expect Canadian soldiers to risk their lives securing secularism and liberty abroad if we are unwilling to make a modest effort at home. We support Denmark in an attempt to honour these values.
A rally is planned for noon to 1:30pm, March 11, at the Danish Consulate, 151 Bloor St. Help spread the word.

A snapshot of middle class India--Folks - the Bush visit to India really brought out the difference between hindus and muslims. While hindus warmly applauded Bush , and see him as their best friend for the way he has taken on Islamic terrorists , muslims hate him for the same reason. Hindus love Bush because we think Bush is a friend of India. Muslims have extra-territorial loyalties , and so they hate Bush because he destroyed the Taliban , Saddam and Al Qaeda.
