WINFIELD, W.Va. (AP) -- The winner of the largest single lottery jackpot in U.S. history has been accused of threatening to kill the manager of a bar.

Andrew "Jack" Whittaker, who won the $314.9 million Powerball jackpot on Christmas 2002, was arraigned Tuesday on charges of threatening Todd Parsons, the manager of Billy Sundays Bar and Grill in St. Albans.

Whittaker, who reportedly was banned from the bar, is accused of trying to hit Parsons and threatening "to have the victim and his family killed," according to police reports.

Whittaker did not immediately return a call for comment Wednesday. He was released on $5,000 bond and faces up to six months in jail and a $100 fine if convicted.

The 56-year-old contractor received a $113 million lump sum payment from his lottery win and spent $14 million establishing the Jack Whittaker Foundation, a nonprofit organization to help West Virginians find jobs, buy food and pay for education.

Last I heard, this clown was blowing his wad (pun intended) both at various strip clubs and in the parking lots thereof.

The guy's 56, fat and drunk.

No matter how much he spends on booze and strippers, there is absolutely no way he can run out of money before dying.

I met Mr. Whittaker several times back in the mid 1990's when I did some contract work at the state capitol building. He was often coming in to apply for various permits. Mr. Whittaker was well off before he ever won the lottery, he owned one of the larger contracting firms in the area. He seemed pretty down to earth, just one of the shoot the bull, down home country boys that are prevalent in the area.

It does seem he has gone a little loopy since winning the lottery, he was involved in an incident at a bar back a few months ago where someone drugged him and stole $50,000 in cash out of his truck. If I was him I think I would avoid the bars. Heck with the money he has he could build the nicest bar in the region at his house and sit in it all day if he wanted to.

You know what the difference is betwen a "Yankee" and a "Damn Yankee"?

A Yankee is someone from up North that comes down South to visit.

A "Damn Yankee" is one that stays.

I heard it a bit differently:

Yankees are like hemorrhoids. If they come down then go back up they're ok.

But if they come down and stay down then they're nothing but a pain in the A$$! :-)
