Why Cant Bubba Vote Democrat?
by Allen Snyder
Bubba, you may recall, is the generic name for the guy Democratic presidential contender Howard Dean appealed to; the blue-collar white guy with the pick-up, Confederate Flag (if hes a Southerner the North has its Bubbas, too), gun rack, spit cup, NASCAR ball cap, I Pledge to One Nation Under God bumper sticker, and big chip on his shoulder.
Its false that people who like NASCAR, Confederate flags, and guns are Bubbas and, being a professional critical thinker, I see the gross overgeneralization involved in saying so. Instead, well say not all NASCAR lovin gun toters are Bubbas, but all Bubbas are NASCAR lovin gun toters. Its the same reasoning used in not all conservatives are stupid people, but all stupid people are conservatives (could this be more true?).
There are rich Bubbas and poor Bubbas. Over the last few decades, poor Bubbas have dissed Democrats and elected Republican regular guys to our highest elected offices. Now, the GOP carries Southern states routinely and the political pendulum there has swung way to the right.
At least rich Bubbas have an excuse for voting Republican. They have lotsa money and Republicans love helping rich people get richer, especially if they can get poor Bubbas and their yet-to-be-born children to foot the humungous bill, thank em for it, and ask for more.
But whats Poor Bubbas excuse? He doesnt have a pot to piss in. Hes living paycheck to paycheck and up to his eyeballs in debt. Meanwhile, GOP hucksters ram through labor, middle, and lower-class unfriendly legislation that screws him over both economically and politically. Rather than punishing them, poor Bubbas from Savannah to El Paso to Knoxville line up every election to vote for more Republicans.
Whats happened here? Its trivial to say theres one and only one cause for Bubbas changing attitudes, but the reasons arent as complicated as youd think. What attracts Bubba to the GOP is their not-so-closet intolerance, pumping testosterone, and defiant machismo.
You see, Bubba dont like too many people. Hes got a problem with Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Cubans, Asians, Europeans (especially the French), the camel jockeys, towel-heads, fags, Jews, Catholics, atheists, tree-huggers, liberals, commies, and the ACLU. But what he really hates is blacks and women, especially those with power. All Bubbas are dangerously narrow-minded and are either racists, sexists, or homophobes, a combination of these, or in extreme, but not entirely rare instances, a heady mix of all of them (think Senator Santorum Yikes!).
Bubba tends to like other Confederate flag waving God-fearing Protestants, have a nuke em all to hell mentality, trust the government without question (unless its full of Goddamn bleedin heart liberal Democrats), hate dissenters, like his womenfolk figuratively barefoot/pregnant and literally submissive, and his blacks in their place.
He lives vicariously through military action, a testosterone-fest if ever there was one, imaginarily killing and maiming his way to world dominance.
Pacifists are pussies, the ends justify the means, if you want something take it, and the USA is #1!
Bubba idolizes Rush and OReilly, and thinks Ann Coulter often makes some good points. They get it. They know him, are him, and feel his pain (they say). They fan his anger and frustration, directing it toward the evil liberals, peaceniks, and Democrats responsible for this national cultural nightmare. They willingly enable his various isms, phobias, and fears.
Bubbas afraid hes lost control, lost power, become a minority in his own country. Hes the victim of an evil liberal plot to de-white the country.
Everybody wants to take him down, make him pay, and the only ones who care are Republicans. Its OK to hate women, fags, and blacks, the GOP happily says, we dont like em, either and we run the government!
Democrats, on the other hand, are the party of Civil Rights, blacks, gays, feminism, the environment, international cooperation, and world peace all things Bubba thinks the world would be better without. Bubba wants and needs the security of being in charge, being top dog, and BushCos GOP-sponsored plan for world domination through oppressive fear, bullying intimidation, and manly war neatly fits the bill.
Whats a Democrat to do? As bleak as things seem, youd think Bubbas were forever lost to the hatemongers on the GOP right. Theyre not.
Democrats have to stick to the issues; they cant let themselves get too tangled up in taking sides in the cultural war questions of the day. They cant get any real mileage out of affirmative action, the pledge of allegiance, and gay marriage, cause the right sings Bubbas tune on those issues.
But what Bubba doesnt know is how much hes been lied to about things he actually cares about war and the economy. Bubbas dying in Iraq and being sucked dry at home. The left needs to do more than simply confront Bubba with BushCos destructive policies and their hideous consequences. They need to show Bubba how badly BushCo lies about everything and do so unceasingly.
Cause if theres one thing Bubba hates more than being out of beer on game day, its being made a fool of.

I think that about says it all. A simple bigot.
A nice assertion that's completely unverifiable - typically stupid and typically liberal.
Whew! Glad he cleared that up! Wouldn't have put that together from the rest of his tripe.
And they all remember it!
I agree. Its part of the northern elitist, ignorant, Manhattan, campus, Howard Dean crowd. The south is the fastest growing part of the country and even black have begun to migrate back down there because its safe and its better living.
Because the opinion is real. I'm more than sure it's what the leftist elites believe. It's what us Bubbas are up against...
It doesn't actually say he's a professor. Or where.
For all we know he "instructs" only on the internet.
BTW, "spit cup"? Who spits in a cup?
Sit down, Snyder, and STFU.
Or I'll sic Homeland Security on yer a&&.
No problem. I moved to the south in order to BECOME a Bubba. My new lifestyle is being attacked - and I really don't like it.
Let me just say that after more than fifty years of living and having a degree from a college full of these types of libs, I'd trust those Bubbas in an emergency a heck of a lot more than worthless Northern libs like Snyder. The U.S. has trusted Bubbas like Alvin York, Audie Murphy, and a whole lot more Southern men who fought and died for their country so elitist libs like this clown could get their bigoted drivel printed.
He's an adjunct instructor at that great beacon of academia, Pellissippi State Technical Community College, in Knowxille, TN. Adjunct means they hired him--they'll hire anybody at a place like that--to come in a couple nights a week and teach students just out of high school who don't know their A'holes from ethics and philosophy. I believe his email there is email@example.com. You can find his home address/phone by a simple white page search. He lives on "County Club Way," which is not surprising for a liberal-leftist who likes to tell other folks how to live their lives. He was an aspiring--meaning he hadn't got it yet--doctoral student at UT, probably in some liberal arts department like sociology, education, or some such. He obviously likes to hide from the public as he uses a number of email handles like the one he gave at the end of this article and others like firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com.
It's amply clear this fuzzy-thinking Bush-hater is incapable of coherent thought and his writing wouldn't even get a C- at a place like good old Pellissippi. I suspect he has a part-time job washing dishes at the Red Lobster in Knoxville to earn most of his bread, and spends most of his time on DU posting four-letter words trashing good, honest, people.
Only an "instructor"?
I guess Goober here couldn't get one of them professiating degrees.
That this "professional critical thinker," heaven help us, is being inflicted on poor undergraduates somewhere who deserve better is the true crime against humanity in this piece. The guy should look up "stereotype" in a dictionary some time and ponder the deficiencies of constructing a structure of thought on the quicksand of bigotry. I feel certain he could find abundant examples in other people - most paragons of intellectual clarity can. That characteristic also constitutes a fairly good working definition of "fool."
Evidence? I give you: Its the same reasoning used in not all conservatives are stupid people, but all stupid people are conservatives (could this be more true?). Well, actually it could hardly be less false. Two words - Patty Murray. Nor is that "reasoning" by any conventional definition of the term, as I am certain a "professional critical thinker" realizes - it is a description of an inclusive set relationship whose accuracy depends on the underlying definitions, none of which are offered, and for good reason.
Mister Snyder - here, parenthetically, is a personality type that would have PhD tatted on his underwear had he attained that level of institutional sanction for formal blathering - is something of a sad case when it comes to the analytical perception of his fellow man. There's nothing wrong with Bubba - I'd trust him to tow me out of a snowdrift any time. Mr. Snyder I wouldn't trust with my car keys. Not that he'd steal them, he'd lose them. But what strikes me as least trustworthy about Mr. Snyder is the drift of this "essay" - all he's really trying to do is all the Left is capable of these days: come up with a sufficiently manipulative lie to garner Bubba's vote and then screw him to the wall. The problem is twofold: Bubba is smarter than Mr. Snyder thinks he is, and Mr. Snyder is stupider by an order of magnitude than Mr. Snyder thinks he is. And that's not Bubba's problem.
Well, actually it could hardly be less false.
I'm thinking this is exactly the opposite of what you meant.
As an assistant to the part-time instructor at the Pellissippi Technical School of Whatnot and Thingies of Ohio, I bestow on your essay a grade of "B+".
But honestly, perfesser...I'd do anything for an "A"...
It's what all us Pellissippi intellectulists am doing!
I'm kinda into the pork rinds right now. And I've found 'em on sale.
The stories about the flavor could fill volumes...
