."little do they know that all guest worker programs are geared towards many other jobs as well.".. When I came to this realization, I basically got sick.. are there any jobs that you can think of that could not be replaced by foreign workers? None come to mind.

People that own their own business, lawyers, CEO's, and government officials. Possibly any industry that has a considerable influence over Congress, such as Doctors via the AMA. The rest of us are in for a rude awakening.

Like you, I won't change my opinion. If this passes, Bush needs to lose the election, and so does any other spineless RINO or DIM who votes for it. They have no right to shove this down America's throat when the majority of us are strongly against it. If I had wanted to live in Mexico, I would have moved there. I didn't, and anyone who has ever been there knows what I'm talking about.

... and sadly that is the list.. very short.

This proposal is a way to circumvent H-1 visas..Pretty sly maneuver on Bush's part wouldn't you say, every one is talking about the illegal alien issue while little do they know that what is really being proposed is a massive realignment of the job marketer in the USA.

Thanks for the link.
To: blueriver
I wonder.. if due to all the clamor re the illegals Bush will 'revamp' his proposal a bit.. but will still include the realigment of the job market.. Funny.. my youngest son is headed for Greece soon.. I told him he needs to relocate there.. (never in a million years thought those words would come out of my mouth).. but the problem is, the EU is proposing similar action. No place to run..

I wonder.. if due to all the clamor re the illegals Bush will 'revamp' his proposal a bit.. The illegal aspect will be the part that he negotiates away. In the end we will have a new guest worker program that will replace the H-1B visa program only it will have no limits.

I agree.. and unfortunately, Republicans who are upset with Bush will then think they've made a difference by their objections.. and they will vote for Bush.. not realizing they've been sold out.. along with the rest of America.

A democrat will win this election
GOOD! A Democrat would NEVER get away with the crap President Bush pulls on a regular basis.

He needs to lose the election just for proposing it!
This is just the final straw in his socialist adjenda.

No sir.
The same application for temporary worker status can also be made from a foreign country.
There is no 'reward' for illegals. They have to self-identify and qualify.
That is leaps and bounds over the present condition.
WAKE-UP!

That is leaps and bounds over the present condition We are still going to get millions who come in by the means they do now. This changes nothing.
It does nothing to dissuade these people to not come.
It does nothing to rectify the situation at the border that allows full access to our country.

Um...maybe enforce the actual laws that are on the books.
Send them home a few thousand here, a few thousand there. Word would travel.
Um..gee, I dunno --stop paying out welfare to people who aren't our citizens.
Maybe fine people who hire them.
In otherwords, make it very painful for those who hire them and those who come here illegally.
But I would argue that the status quo was better than granting amnesty.
But then maybe you like the idea of barrios strtching from LA to Miami. I don't.
