Lottery = a tax on the poor.

Im not poor. Either was Mrs Jemison who is the real winner. Mrs Battle is just a petty criminal who will now add a new mug shot to her collection.

Lottery = a tax on the poor.

Lottery = a tax on the willing.

At least that's the way Thomas Jefferson saw it.

Lottery = a tax on the poor.

Half Right
Lottery=TAX
A tax on anyone who purchases a ticket. If you don't play you don't pay.
Name one other tax where you have ANY chance of recovering your money, OK I'll admit it is slim, however it is possible to win some money, even if you don't get the big prize.

Now, even if you don't play, be glad some people do -- Why? Your taxes would be increased somewhere to make up for the $$.

Here's the mathematical formula on how to figure out the odds on a lottery, assuming all numbers are pulled from the same set.

[(# of total numbers)! - ((# of total numbers) - (# of selections))!]
divided by (# of selections)!

For example, for a "6-49" format (six numbers pulled out of a total of 49) your odds are:

49 x 48 x 47 x 46 x 45 x 44 / 6 x 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1
=10068347520/720
=13983816

13,983,816 to 1.

In other words, forgeddaboudit.
