McCainFirst CFR, now amnesty for illegals. He is certainly having a good year. The folks in Arizona need to find a replacement.

Now I know the definition of compassionate conservative: a person who campaigns as a conservative, then sells out key conservative principles. Yep...that's right. I can't believe all the time I waqsted and how wrong I was in 1999 and 2000 when I was defending the idea of "Compassionate Conservatism". What a crock!

Bump. One of the 50 or so immigration threads I hope to read.
Keep up the pressure.

Another listener wonders: ?What happened to the ?party of principle?? It got sick in the mid eighties, when it moved into the 'big tent', and became terminal when in became 'kinder & gentler'.
Today the GOP is like the corpse in 'Weekend at Bernies', being driven around by a couple of smart*sses calling themselves 'fiscal republicans'.

ping and according to The San Diego Union Tribune:
Illegal immigrants cost the taxpayers $20 billion every year.
34 percent of legal Mexican immigrants are on welfare right now.
25 percent of illegals are as well.
This number will rise with the amnesty.
Most illegals are willing to work hard, but as the numbers prove, millions are not.

Question ...
What do you do with 8 million illegals here now? Kill them? Throw them in jail? Throw them in trains and ship them out like Nazis did to the Jews? Are you going to hire 8 million more gov employees to go after them (ready to pay more taxes?).LOGISTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE!!!
And for all those who want a great wall on the border...the one in China didn't stop the Mongols...how will a Mexican wall stop the illegals? (don't forget we have a wide open border to the north!)

Now I know the definition of compassionate conservative: a person who campaigns as a conservative, then sells out key conservative principles. That is the best definition of compassionate conservatism I have seen yet. And so true. Bush has done little in defense of conservative values. Never mind the foreign policy, the big government policy and now the 'not-an-amnesty' amnesty are further proof the Republican party could care less about values and more about getting elected
I know some are asking us to hang in there for the judges and I can respect that opinion. The idea that perhaps Bush could possibly shake off his current advisory board of PNAC lackeys and get real conservatives for replacements is worth thinking about. However if it doesn't happen don't be suprised if many conservatives that feel betrayed, and rightly so, vote for someone else or stay at home

I don't know what Bush is doing here. He is dead wrong on this immigration issue, IMHO. Hope I don't get in trouble for posting this.
As usual, Laura Ingraham is RIGHT ON about this.

Oh, why me?
Enforcing the law, deporting illegals who have been arrested, and restricting welfare will be sufficient enough to encourage many illegals to leave. President Bush, IMHO, has encouraged more to come.
Please give the killing, Nazi, police state stuff a rest. Thank you.

I certainly cannot disagree with Laura.. I watched Lou Dobbs on CNN: Vicente Fox .." we will go for more, we will go for more"... Fox envisions borderless nations patternedafter the EU." Seems Bush is complicit with Fox's plan for 21st century Mexico with this proposal. Tancredo was a guest and stated that although he is a good republican and supports the president, that he will not put his loyality to the Republican party and the president before America.
