Fun while it lasted?

Well, it wasn't like one of them thar 8-hour marathon sessions, but I can't complain.

P.S. I have a plaque that says "Creative minds are rarely tidy," but it's lost somewhere in the mess. ;)

Hi, I keep trying to get into the secure donation area , but I get "cannot find server" message. I am sending $25 the old fashioned way- Snail Mail. I will be a monthly donor $10, but , I'll have to send it in(unless I can figure out the problem). I tried doing all the things the error message said to fix it, but nothing works. I'm barely computer literate ("Tell me what buttons to push , and in what order"), so maybe I'm still messing something up?

Anyway- Thanks for a great web site!

Thanks for your support, fly_so_free!

A few others were having trouble getting to the secure server, so it probably isn't you.

Someone with knowledge about the server will get back to you later today, I'm sure.

Ah, the wonders of the Internet. Things like that happen sometimes for no reason at all. It does seem to be up and running again.

Thank you. Postmen have to work too :-)

Good morning, Rotti. Methinks we can get this one wrapped up by the time the Packers pull off the upset tomorrow.

Abridged version (dunno where my long version is) of Fair Funkling:
  1. The thread must have been active no more than 30 minutes prior to a declaration of a fair funkle in a post.
  2. At no less than 5-minute intervals after the declaration of a funkle, you must post a count-up from one to "five".
  3. If you reach "five" before anyone stops you, you win.
IMHO, it would've been easy to do it about an hour ago, but it's not going to work right now :-)

BTW, there was a reason why I liked defense beter than offense; I like to force fumbles :-)

Wrapping it up this weekend would be great!

$1,600 more and the bar graph turns yellow (90%) and $62.00 more in monthlies will give us $9,000 a month.

We're on a roll!

Rules for Funkeling.

In order to score a Fair Funkle on Free Republic, a FReeper must observe the following rules:

1) The thread chosen must have been active within 1/2 hour prior to declaring an attempt.

2) The FReeper must declare a "Fair Funkle" attempt in his/her first post.

3) The FReeper must post count downs from 4 to 1 (the declaration post counts as the first post) at no less than 5 minute intervals.

4) It is the duty of any FReeper seeing the declaration to post a "bump," thus ending the attempt.

5) The successful FReeper may, at the fifth and last post, declare in any derisive terms desired, "I did it! A Fair Funkle!"

6) Scoring of Fair Funkles will be by a jury of FReeper peers (the Funkle Committee), and will include: time intervals between count down posts, total time consumed and thread popularity prior to the Fair Funkle.

7) Scoring disputes will be decided by the Funkle Committee and may not be appealed.

8) The awarding of the annual Fairest Funkle Of Them All trophy will be decided by the Funkle Committee.

I'm so glad you are all right!

I was reading last night's thread and someone said you had been on earlier but you had "passed on."

A rather poor choice of words.

LOL... I had a really rude schedule during the week, and yesterday afternoon the lights started fading. Actually, the dimmer switch burned up, so off to home depot for a new one. I tried (really) to stay awake for a while. Right. I actually slept for 12 hours! I haven't done that since the Nixon administration :o)
